in very early 60's, a friend just entering 11th grade. his father died. he had to quit school, to take his job. he started at $30 k when i was making dog doo. years later when we were fighting for .25 cents an hour raise, he got a $600.00 a week raise. when he finally retired a few years ago he had over 6mil in the bank. it's not what you know , it's who.

LOL, thanks for jogging my memory. Yeah, it was a 68, not a 64. What can I say, I am now old and dumb... :)

DMC12 that gets about that in the city if driven properly... 12mpg.

Eco-driving gets you 18mpg, which is more acceptable but still crazy low.

1970 Ford F100 p/u with a 302 CID, three on the tree stranded transmission. 21MPG not bad for a non FI, no ECM, no O2 sensor, and I had a big lead foot! but that was my gas hog. PS. no P/S no A/C :-(

I had a 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis - that thing was a tank but it was mint. I rebuilt the engine and transmission and managed about 8-10mpg in the city and a 14-16 on the highway. I got pulled over once doing 119mph on 93N just north of Boston - the trooper let me go with a warning. I think he liked the car.:rockon:
