LOL. I wouldn't fault anyone for spending 3 or $400 or more btw. Just not for me (tightwad). :)

Anybody recommend a place to tint windows in San Diego and the price I should expect to pay? Thanks!

The guy from Window Tinting | San Diego posts on another forum I frequent so I'd give him a look.

I am getting the ceramic today on my 2009 and if it looks good I will do the 2011. He quoted $379 + 20 for the front strip = $399. He did not mention the small windows as all Prius have those and I told him it was a Prius. Results at 1700 tonight!:D

The Hyper Optik film has a greenish hazy appearance. If you want a more traditional charcoal or black look I would go with a different brand. The Suntek Carbon is a dyed film with carbon added, so i would personally stay away from it since I do not trust the durability of dyed films.

I'll take slightly green and hazy (from the outside) over purple anyway. I must say though, interior visibility from Huper is better than any tint I've ever seen.

But why put up with green and hazy if you can get a blacker and less hazy ceramic (F1 Pinnacle)?

It only looks slightly green and hazy to me. One of these weekends, I am going to meet up with macmaster and let him take a look and report to you guys.

The visibility with Huper is slightly better than F1 Pinnacle. I know this because I had my friend's Mazda 3 tinted with F1.

Lastly, Huper's appearance makes the film appear less dark than it really is. On my front windows with 50%, the film makes the glass look as though it has a heavy factory UV coating. This is a plus because in CA because some police depts are extremely strict on enforcing the tint laws.

Got the 3M ceramic and it is signifcantly better than the standard gray strip they put on the front windshield. You can feel the heat difference on your hand BTW.

He did not want to put the ceramic on the front windshield for some reason.

20 on the back and 30 everywhere else.

Out the door price was $349 for 3M ceramic. Evidently they gave a %5 discount at least twice and did not charge for the windshield. They did all the little windows which was nice.

With all the side windows at 30 it looks better than having two shades on the sides. The back at 20 and is very nice.

Micro very shallow bubbles on some of the front windows which he said would go away when it fully dried in 5 days. We will see!!! LOL

An area of haze will go away, but individual bulbs from my experience never do; individual bubbles are almost always the result of contamination. Look closely at them, and you may see small specs of lint.

Someone here had to remove Air Blue 80 from the front windshield because of this same problem, possibly because of the angle of the windshield. Either you live with it or you don't.
