Bisco, as much as this frustrates me, I'm not touching it, it is still under warranty and to do so will void that.

In addition, I'm not into any thoughts of the ABS system being faulty. It's electrical and is looking a bits one would think, but it could be a cable right?
Not opposed to be wrong tho, just fix the problem LOL

This happened to my previous car also.. Check the steering rack and pinion unit. It might have a steering fluid leaks.

Last communication was me complaining of what sounds like and feels like a failed front passenger side strut mount.
Noticed after the car came out of service and passing an alignment check with flying colors.
Kinda really bugs me, we all know what could happen if that fails completely while driving?
After being informed of my concern, I was still pushed out a week till they had time to address my concern.
So, If there is no catastrophic failure, will know by Tuesday the 25.

Bobby, while the Prius does have power steering it is electric and thus no fluid to leak out.
There will be oil and or grease that can leak from the rack, that is static and the gators stop it from leaking out. For rack and screw lubrication.
Or I could be wrong, Toyota's are not my thing really, The love of all things mechanical is.

Bobby FYI and IMO save the hubcaps, you will need them when you sell your car.
Besides from looking much nicer without them (it's a shame to hide stock wheels that look like that), the lack for the factory cap will actually improve your mileage and with hub / axle caps I get a consistent 56 mpg without them.

Ditto. If this was my problem, I would be on them like White on Rice. If that didn't work, I would sic a lawyer on them. Just curious why wouldn't you demand to take the Service manager for a ride and "demonstrate the problem?

Oh, and there are a couple dozen Toyota dealers in the L.A. Area. A Toyota warranty is a Toyota warranty (READ: You can take it to any Toyota dealer). Einstein said it best (paraphrased) when he was asked to define insanity, his response was .....doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result......

    Try something different.

BTW, The lemon law would most certainly apply here. They would pro-rate the mileage and deduct that amount from your purchase price as "use" and pay you the difference. At your mileage, it might not be advantageous unless you think it's dangerous in which case, it most certainly would.

    As always, this just MHO.....

Bisco, thank you for the heads up. I did finally find a good dealership, tho they did push me out on a serious safety concern. Tho they have not found the cause YET, they will. Well they have 2 more years and over 50 K to find at least.
Can most definitely tell you where not to go, but that would be a different thread.
Besides I'm not looking to bash, I just want my car fixed.

These aren't the stock rims. These are my 17" rims installed 3 weeks ago.

Word of caution then. The gen 3 Prius has different steering racks, one for cars that were stock with 15" wheels and another for stock cars that had 17" wheels. If your car had 15"s then you may the opening up Pandora's box. While if it had 17" you should be fine.

Though the 17" does look nice, the stock is not to shabby either. 20170423_193233.jpg

    Sandollars,
Unfortunately I'm finding the the age of the service manage who can turn a wrench is past.
Now it's managers of service departments.
    Two very different people.
I do try and keep all talks of the problem at hand to led techs.
Two different managers of two different dealerships, service departments have pushed me out a week before they can schedule help.

And have received poor service from more than 5 spanning the L.A. and Orange county areas.
From watching a tech use my car to push a trash can to having a led tech stop my car in the service drive, not with the foot brake but by using park, while I am sitting right next to him.

I thought that was only for the early 2010s, and that all trims had consolidated to a single system by the end of the extra-long 2010 run. Did it actually take longer for that to happen?
