Thai. I name you the warden of this thread since you own 1/2 its posts. But in a couple dozens of pages I still fail to see what your point is.

I think he is trying to point out that he made a better choice (Prius V instead of CT200h that wasn't available at the time he made the decision).

Hint: it is a discussion on the pros and cons of the CT....but if you're too dense to understand, then I can't help you there.

Would you dare test drive a CT200h when it comes out?

    I wouldn't, except at a no-pressure event.

It's tought to say what else Lexus could have done to make the CT better. If they somehow put a 2.2 L engine in it, which they don't have, it would be faster, but would weight a little more and cost more. They could shave weight with lighter materials, but then it may not be as luxurious. Should they have skipped the multi-link rear to save weight? No power seat to save weight? etc...

If anything, this car speaks of how much we can expect from a full-hybrid. They would need much more powerful and lightweight batteries to achieve the results some are looking for.
Those batteries are years away, unfortunately.

Well, Volt and Leaf already have the lithium batteries. With Lithium, at least Lexus could claim better mileage. The way it is now, it is neither here nor there...does not excel at anything and won't be enough to pull customers from the established German brands. My opinion is that Lexus should have waited for lithium battery. BUT, first of all, does Lexus really need this vehicle in the first place? I don't know. Why not invest CT research money into building a better HS??

EDIT: You know what...i really think that Lexus should have kept the HS off the market for another year or so...get the CT research funding and merge the design features with the HS. Instead of using 3-4 year old hybrid engine from the Camry, the HS should be using an engine with the updated technology adapted from our 2010 Prius...just imagine what a 2.4L (or 2.5L) hybrid engine with Prius updated stuff...maybe even with Li-ion batteries...and make Ford engineers pee in their pants! Make the shape of the HS less like a Corolla and more comtemporary (like low seating of the CT, those trick dampeners of the CT, etc.). And then release it to the market. It would be an instant class leader, a better choice than Lincoln MKZ hybrid and i would put it in the $30-40k class (instead of the ES price range $35-45k)...to bitch slap Acura TSX, diesel Germans, etc.. Think about it...something like just over 200hp, bunch of instant torque, over 40 mpg combined, and under 7.5 seconds 0-60. That would be freaking sweet!! I would buy that in a heartbeat!

Instead, at this time, Lexus is stuck with one loser (HS) and potentially another one (CT). And how long do we have to wait until these cars get updated??? Toyota/Lexus is reminding me of the old General Motors...lets throw a bunch of stuff out with different names to the public and lets hope one stick. :(

Really? Cause I only see you highlighting the cons.

This discussion is moot. Let the car debut and then let the public decide what it thinks of it.

Really? Because i thought others (remember that guy who has owned Lexus for the past 13 years?) were already doing it. And really, do we have to do this side chatting in this thread for no point at all??!! Why not PM me? :focus:

I'll test drive one. I tried the HS and it wasn't bad, except the price. I saw a silver CT driving around a few weeks ago, looked pretty good on the road. But I don't have high hopes based on the engine choice. I agree with Thai, the target demographic for the CT is really small. To really compete in the category it needs lithium batteries, a 2.4L GDI engine, 40mpg, and either RWD or a lightweight 4WD system. At around $35k.

Well, one way or another, somebody should bump this in a year. Some lines in the sand have been drawn and like it or leave it ultimately the market response is what we've been debating, so we can see what the market says.

So who's going to trade in their Prius V (any Prius) for a CT200h?

    :D:D

Come on, somebody out there is chomping at the bit :)

I have to admit I know NOTHING about sports cars. Drove trucks for 22 years before getting my Prius and what a huge step it was. Not to mention the fuel economy. 1st car I've ever had with A/C or more than an AM/FM radio. So with all this talk about who would be the perfect target audience for the CT200h, I thought about it for a while, then it hit me .... me. Now mind you, I'll be going from a second generation Prius. So will it be an upgrade? To me, oh yeah, but then again so wouldn't a Prius v due out this September, an HS250h (which by the way is going for a great price nowadays along with a 0.9% APR), or even a Prius 4 (2011 - or 2010 Prius IV). They are all about the same price. And as for the reviews, these are the same reviewers who either reviewed a Mercedes E550, BMW 535i, Lotus Elise SC, or the Porsche Boxster the previous week? Here's an example of a review, "The 2010 Lotus Elise remains one of the sharpest canyon and track weapons ever produced, but comfort and convenience are merely an afterthought." Huh?!?!? Really?!? I'd probably pan the CT200h too.

Their review of the Elise is right on. Go drive an Elise and a CT200h. Then you'll understand. You can't get much different than those two cars. Lively and connected to the road vs. slow and numb.

I am, but I still have 4.5 yrs to pay on my current 2010 Prius.
Also I haven't test driven the CT yet. BUUUUUT I Saw It.

At the Montreal Auto Show, it seems like a cross between a Mazda 6 & a Prius, with a much nicer interior.

Isn't an hs250h just a Camry hybrid with an 'L' on it ?

From what I've seen the hs250h's start at $35K ... not really in the same price range as the Prii 4's, are they ?

    Rev,

The HS250h is a Prius chassis with a Camry Hybrid drivetrain. It has the 2.4L ICE and an "L" on the grill. It is also about 750 lbs. heavier than a Prius.

    Thanks dustoff !

It looks just like a camry when I looked it up, but I didn't compare actual dimenstions.
