Why the BMW i3-REx

Well as someone who’s put in 14 plugs and counting, the biggest hint I can give you is as you are trying to push the plug in, twist the handle. Takes quite a bit a strength to expand the little hole that screw made with the plug, but it’s doable. I leave about 1/2” and used to trim it with a razor or utility knife, unless it’s in the tread channel. I don’t worry any more about trimming it too much as they wear really fast.

I have had a hole where it was necessary to put in 2 plugs. I worried about that one and checked the air frequently, but the plug held and the tire didn’t lose air.

I once saw a photo where someone used multiple plugs to seal a slash in the tread.

 

Must've run out of duct tape.

 

Duct tape only works when applied inside the tire.
It's a pain getting the tape do into the tread for a complete seal, and then you are lucky to get a mile before wear of the tape starts the leak again.

 

Yikes! As much of a believer in plugging tires, I don’t believe I would have even considered it, much less waste a bunch of plugs on something that might lead to a blowout.
