This morning it was 21 degrees (So. Wi). Charged yesterday . I drove 9 miles. No Ice. Had 5.8 miles left on charge indicator when done. I dove between 25-45 MPH). When I go to the exact same location using a 60MPH highway, the ICE always comes on after about 1/8 mile @ 60 mph. I think it is a combination of TEMP and Draw. Low temp and high draw, the ICE will come on--no matter when you charge.

tell us a little more about your accident. you may also want to check your 12 volt battery, although, i'm not sure the ice keeps it charged?

make's sense, b/c if the battery doesn't have enough juice then ICE has no choice but to come on.

or if it's too cold, it may not want you to pull over a certain amount of amps?

The battery is not able to, it's like when you start a conventional car, battery capacity is there but due to colder temps, less amperage is given up by the battery.

which could explain why my ICE never comes on, I drive 25 MPH or slower to work.

aha! so even stepping on the pedal too hard might start the ice even if you're not in the power zone.

Lots of front end repairs :( - I know they had to disconnect the battery to do some welding. I don't know enough to guess what the problem is, except to know that the ICE always comes on now (when it didn't before) and when it does, the idle sounds really high. Maybe something needs to be adjusted, ICE-wise?? On the upside - all replacement parts were new, Toyota parts, as there are no after-market parts available yet. The car looks great... just can't get the mileage I got before!

mine revs really high too, when it first starts, i think that's normal. and you're sure your temp is set to 'low'? they could have damaged the 12v buy running it down too often while in repair. in the non pip, that can cause the ice to run more.

I'll have them check that when I take it in for its 10,000 check - I just never heard it before. I'll let you all know if I learn anything important!! (And yes, temp is on "low.")

lol, (not to be funny but) ScangaugeII has a voltmeter readout. Mine reads 12.8 volts when car turns off. 14.6 when in EV mode.

What's the outside temperature overnight? When does your charge finish compared to when you drive off?
