A firm (UBS) that could not analyze its own balance sheet in 2008-9 by billions of dollars is now an expert about Tesla? Notice that this analysis has Gigafactory batteries being built by Tesla as being more vastly more expensive than GM batteries. The economy of scale of the Gigafactory completely eclipses GMs capacity since the same Gigafactory volume is used for power plant and solar installations. That is an inexcusable analysis mistake that any decent manufacturing cost expert would flag. Another example of Garbage In = Garbage Out.

You may be too young to remember the so-called 'analyst' Art Spinella who was supposedly an expert who " told it like it is" about the Prius - versus the much greener Hummer. Again - they're the naysayers. And naysayers tickle naysayers years. The people who do these kinds if shoddy mediocre articles often work out of their mother's basements - in many cases.

Strange that Consumer Reports getting themselves in the middle of all this Model X (and S) stuff. I do not think CR should be out on the cable news shows talking about Brand x cars. Lost their way, they have. Especially on the green cars they are attempting to play politically correct rah-rah Plug_ins then getting in too deep.

 

Irony - yes, the 'noise' is what many are dismayed over, during modern formula 1 racing. The new hybrid F1 cars don't have the ear piercing (damaging) noise as do their more primitive carbon fuel burner ancestors. The hybrid F1's show they're faster, yet the stench of lung burning fuel exhaust & noise are what some consider an integral part.

well if you remember, CR was never a fan of the Prius either. They hated the fact that it didn't handle like a BMW. And because of that, they were often running it down.

Yes I remember every month's CR issue said you'd be nuts financially to buy a Prius based on fuel savings. I feel on Plug_ins they have tried to be much more positive, too positive, and now I think they feel like they have to walk it back a little.

only to have short selling crybabys getting upset as musk contiues burning cash to further build out the supercharger network ... looks like someone wasn't insightful enough to buy stock several years ago ...
It must be hard .... continually aligning with the status quo auto industry that's making a big chunk of their polluting outsourced products somewhere else ... even as tesla tries its hardest to bring profit & jobs back to the USA. Have a great weekend your self!
