Why I feel lose traction when switch from EV to HV?

    I've gone to 85 in Ev (tripped to Hv at 86) but not at full throttle. My runs to 65 showed power decreasing after 60 or so.

    Ioniq? The Niro is a hybrid crossover.

    You could also wait an additional year (or two?) after that when Hyundai updates the Ioniq mid-cycle and boosts the EV range (or so Hyundai says. Not sure why you'd announce that before your 124 mile EV even goes on sale).

    They have said a BEV Niro will be available; possibly next year.

    Okay, I went from 25-75 - nothing special happened. Just smooth acceleration.

    No I am looking at the Kia Niro BEV which is rumored to be available next year. I am hoping that Kia doesn't cripple the Niro. I am looking at this vehicle as a utility vehicle not a passenger car so much. The Ioniq has the same limitations as the Prime as far as being a utility vehicle, it doesn't have much capacity inside, and the roof isn't really designed for carrying things that have any weight. My two kayaks together will push the limitation of the Prime roof rails when I buy them (depending on which version of the weight limit you believe).

    Sounds like Kia will have a solid offering if true. Good size, nice ride height, decent range (200 would be nice though but we'll probably have to wait a few years after launch).

    Given I have been talking about replacing my truck for 4 years now, I can be patient. At least if I can get it started again, battery died and it hasn't been easy getting time to get the stupid thing pulled out of my driveway and towed to a shop to get it fixed (more than just a battery replacement unfortunately, the electronics around charging the battery and the accessories need to be replaced as it keeps killing new batteries). Oh to have a real day off. Anyway I only need about 120 miles given I will keep the Prime as my long range vehicle and general commuter, and use the other vehicle as the weekend utility vehicle for grocery shopping and trips to Home Depot/Lowes.

    Or maybe I will get lucky and Toyota will create a Prime V and all my desires will be fulfilled. Real cargo space, a standard roof, and hopefully an accessory hitch for bike racks. I would trade my current Prime in even at a loss for a Prime V as i could truly become a 1 car household. But given how badly they handled the cargo space in the current generation Prius, they would find some way to mess up the Prime V to make it not so much a dream car, but I can still hope, maybe they will make a Rav 4 PHEV given the competition from Kia.

    A RAV4 PHV or Prius v Prime would be fantastic. It depends on whether the TNGA platform for the Prius can support both the extra weight of a larger vehicle AND the PHV battery (the Prius v and 1G Prius Plug-In had almost the same weight so putting the two together was a non-starter as both vehicles were reaching the limits of the 3G Prius' chassis). That being said, the new Prime is almost the same length as the Prius v so the additional weight may be smaller between a Prime and a theoretical Prius v Prime than the current Prius v to the Prius Plug-in. Any additional weight will of course result in lower AER so it'll probably be around 20 miles.

    A RAV4 PHV would need a larger battery to get the same 25 miles (and won't be as efficient so it needs even more capacity)
