That's funny, that's the reasons why I got a Prius myself (I was originally after the 09 Gen II w/ bluetooth, back-up camera, and iPod dock, among other things I can't seem to think off the top of my head right now), but the dealership I went to that had what I wanted sold all of them before I got there, I had a choice between a base Gen III in Blizzard Pearl or Red (forgot what they called red), I jumped for the Blizzard Pearl (I love Priuses, but hate red ones), while it's not exactly what I wanted, it is a Prius, and I love it with all my heart, definately it's sleek aerodynamic look

Isn't Seattle really big into conservation? I went there for a trip once and saw a bunch of Priuses on the streets, and was the first time I saw (and rode in) a Prius taxi

I guess I'm jumping the gun a little since I have not bought mine yet, but I have been reading these forums for the last couple of weeks and am actively searching for a BLACK 2006. My reasons for buying one are:

90% Bad guy insurance / peak oil
10% Might save some money in the long run

Thanks to all for the VERY informative forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As someone who has been to the middle east and seen the state of the infastructure there. I feel it is not a action here we have to worry about, but there. Those countries/provinces/tribes, hate each other way more than us (who have only been in there hair for the last 15 years or so) But no matter where the epicenter is the result is the same. NO GAS = HAHA I have a prius to all those hatters at the gas station, and truck driving wierdos in the other post. I think of it as my little part to homeland security!

Hate to break it to you but your Prius runs on petroleum.

They run on gasoline now, but with the numerous engineers working on plug-in conversions, it is only a mater of time until all of them will be able to run on little or no gas if the drivers choose to operate that way.

Mine doesn't do that. Is that a feature only on the 2010s?

I tend to agree with you about the availability of gas. I live in the SE and several times in recent years we have experienced shortages and high prices when hurricanes hit the gulf coast. My other car had to be filled at least every other week, and that was a stretch! With my Prius, I can go 3 weeks easily and probably 4. I also "stock" a bit of gas, so in a pinch I could hopefully make it 6-7 weeks.

I will say, the the Prius is a perfect size car for my driving needs. I used to have a Caravan, but even with kids I rarely or NEVER utilized the full potential of the car. But with the Prius I do. I really thought about what I needed before I got my last car. The Prius really made the most sense for me.

If I reposition myself a little on the seat ...

Oh hang on, I see the problem, I own a Prius not a Pruis!
Damn, that Pruis sounds like a fun car to drive!
