    congrats! We didn't go green 4 Green's sake, rather the economics we're more appealing .... thus, we generate our own;

    When our system was 1st commissioned some 10 years ago (anticipating we'd be driving a plug-in eventually) we overbuilt to the point we were getting between $100 to $200 back from the utility, for our Surplus. Our system was rated 7.1 KW AC at the time .... 36 panels rated 225watts.

    When we got our 1st plug-in, we were then just breaking even for several years, but at least we still no longer owed the utility. But when we got our 2nd plug-in we added 4 more panels, in order to hopefully break even. Now rated at 8kW's;

    We're pretty much out of roof space now, but we only average $7 or $8 a month from the utility .... & that's actually a charge for taxes & the privilege of being hooked up to them.
