    I only bought my car a week ago and I have the same sticker. It's a 2014 with a state inspection sticker from April. This is on the door frame, didn't look under the hood.

    The Load Capacity Reduced is a standard sticker applied by your regional distributor and has nothing to do with the recall.

    I have not been on this Forum for some time, and was unaware of this recall. I have a 2010 Prius III which I bought new, and have 35K mi. on it. I never received a letter from Toyota about a recall. Out shopping today, as I was approaching my servicing dealer, I decided to stop and ask about the recall. The dealer is AutoNation Toyota Scion in Winter Park, Fl. They offer maintenance on Saturdays and Sunday. Today was Sunday, so I pulled in and was the only car in the Service reception lanes. The Service rep. came over immediately and I explained my dilemma. He copied my VIN and we went over to his computer. Sure 'nuf, my car needed the update! " I can do it for you in about 45 minutes" he stated! I was in disbelief and told him what I had read about time to do the recall on this Forum. He reaffirmed the 45 min.! I said "OK" and he sent me off to the lounge area to wait. Forty five minutes later he came to me and said "your car is done and coming out of the wash", so please go to the Cashier area and pick up the paperwork. The paperwork was all complete, all that was required was my signature, so I was out the door in less than an hour! Wow!! That was incredible!! So if you are hesitant to get the recall done due to the times mentioned in other postings, check it out with your Dealer and see what he can do for you!!

    I just had this recall done on my 2010 Gen III. The thing I am noticing is that I've twice heard the battery fan (rear right of passenger compartment) turn on. In 5 years of owning this car I've never heard it before. Should I expect this behavior? In a quick search of this forum I don't see others talking about differences in the fan.

    I have a co-worker with a 2010 that mentioned his fan runs more since the update. Our have not noticed a difference in the fan running on our 2010. We have kids. He does not. So that alone may mask the noise :).

    I've not noticed our hybrid battery fan running, either before or since recall.

    I have been monitoring HV Battery fan speed and battery temps with ScanGaugeII before and after recall and have noticed no difference. The fan speed is controlled primarily by battery temps. With warmer weather the battery temps increase and so the fan will run more often.

    It's really strange, I've never heard the battery fan before in 5 years with the car... prior to this update. So if it did run before it was silent / low speed. Just today I left work today quite late (9:30pm) and the ambient temp was 75°. After a few minutes driving at 60 mph the fan came on and was loud. I guess I better contact the dealer to look into this?

    Sounds funky. My '10 had the recall done and I can't recall ever having that fan come on. I guess I would know it if I heard it?
    I'm sure my '14 had the same update -- no fan there either. Would definitely get it checked out, record it if you can (so when you get there and it doesn't kick on, they don't send you packing!)

    The only time I heard the fan on my 05 was when my back seats were down, same thing on my 2012 plug-in.
    Maybe getting old ears! :)

    Hey Guys,

    I have read each and every one of your posts here and have held back on doing this recall for a few months...until today.

    It was time to do my car's 2nd oil change of its life so I decided I would get the recall done too. On one side, I didn't want to lose any acceleration, regen braking response or quietness of the engine (I have heard all the horror stories on the alternative experiences of some on these forums). However, if I don't do the recall, I risk cutting the life expectancy of the inverter or related components. I cannot afford to pay plus/minus $5000 for a new inverter if Toyota deems it my fault that it failed because I didn't take corrective actions.

    So the recall is done and I arrived back from the dealership. On the way back home, I noticed I could regen brake just like before and even at slow speeds. I tried to accelerate up a hill more agressively than usual. There didn't see to be any sort of difference that I noticed in the driveability of the car. One thing I want to point out is that the engine seemed to transition smoother from electric to ICE mode but that could be because the car has been warmed up from my morning drive.

    My best buddy who is the master tech at Toyota did the recall. I noticed the battery was not disconnected during the entire process as I still have my original trip settings. I may report back here with an update after a week of driving but I have a feeling that my mileage will not be affected. According to the vehicle, I'm still getting an instantaneous 4.5L/100km and this jumps to 4.7/100km during winter. Which is 50mpg and up!

    Still a happy camper as of now.

    Had my recall/update done four weeks ago. I only noticed one thing and I've been watching very closely to confirm my observation and eliminate other variables.

    Every day I take the exact same route to work. I get mileage, average speed and time elapsed that are very consistent. There is one stretch, after a very long downhill, that is very flat for about 3 miles. I always hit it fully warmed up and battery fully charged. For about two years BEFORE the update I was ONLY able to get up to 41, sometimes 42 miles per HOUR unde1 electric only - ICE never kicked on, watching the power display carefully. I thought of this as an informal way to watch the condition of the batteries - figuring I'd acquire lower speeds as the battery condition deteriorated.

    AFTER the upgrade I noticed I could do better - now up to 45 MPH. Mileage mpg has not changed - over the last 2,800 miles I'm still averaging 60mpG.

    I've noticed no other differences at all, but I thought this was interesting.

    Regarding the fan noise, our current loner is a 2014 base model. The fan is super noisy. Every time you press the gas the fan runs fast. Let off the gas and fan slows. It is really annoying. I have never noticed the fan run in our 2010 package 5. Any chance the fan is insulated more in the higher packages?

    No difference in insulation. Maybe defective loud fan?

    Quick question. I have not had a chance to get the update done in my 2010.. I have 110k on her now is there any warranty or guarantee that after the software update is performed and something happens shortly after, ie inverter blows up, its covered? Thanks

    I don't think there is an official warranty however it is low risk so just get it done. The bottom line is the update is not killing inverters. Not getting the update can cause your inverter to damage itself and or fail. In theory, the longer you wait, the more damage you are doing to the inverter. I am confident mine was failing for a few months. Power and MPG were both lower than what we have gotten from the several loners they have put us in over the past few months.

    Also consider that if your inverter fails, they may not cover rental car reimbursement. Toyota has spent over $2000 on our rentals so far with no end in sight.

    I believe it was sudden, hard acceleration that most stressed the inverter. If your driving style is laid-back, it should be ok.

    The software flash also changes how much current goes through the transistors during regen braking too. Not doing the update will still expose the transistors to stress during braking down long grades.
