I was driving like I'd stolen it :)

The speed limit was 60 mph, but I'm not going to admit what I was actually doing

My monitor shows more bars but also goes down faster. Does your SOC battery level go down faster? I haven't done any tests but mine seems to have a little less power.

My 2010 was one of the first ones upgraded since it was already at the dealer when they started the upgrades. On mine the invert or what ever hums with less gas pedal depression than it use to.

I had my software update 2 weeks ago, but I still had my Blizzaks on. Have the summers on now but it just turned back to winter again. Although, the MFD is registering over 50 mpg for the first time in months, could barely get 45 mpg (didn't even calculate the actual, didn't want to feel THAT bad) in the cold with the snows. I'll wait till it warms up.

Got my update done today. Will report back in overall MPG changes over time. Only two things I noticed are the ICE sounds like it works more in the red power range and EV kicks in quicker - don't really need to do a full pulse-glide method as I used to.

To elaborate on the ICE noise, I think the software is addressing the issue. I usually am half-way in the red/power bar merging onto the highway. typically i hold it there and the engine drones as expected with a CVT of sorts.
Today with the few merges i've done, i hold it at the same level, but some seconds in, the ICE gets noticeably louder with no noticeable change in actual acceleration. I don't think i've read that throughout most of this thread - i stopped following after page 28 (for my forum settings).

My mpg definitely is no better and may be 1-2 mpg worse. But...it's a whole lot better than most other cars at the gas pumps . ;)

Drove 19.6 miles (5.5 miles in town, the rest parkway at 55 MPH) to the dealer. MFD indicated 65.7 MPG on arrival. Recall completed in about 45 minutes. Reset Trip B. Return trip 22.0 miles with 65.0 on MFD. Trip to dealer was about 250 feet downhill. Warmup cycle took only about 15 seconds on return trip. No discernible difference in operation so far.

Had my recall done yesterday at Wyler Toyota in Clarksville, In. Took 1hr. so caught the shuttle to Rural King and did some shopping. The car was definitely cleaner when I picked it up, service manager said there would be no difference after the recall. Boy was he wrong, got in the CLEAN car and the door shut with a resounding thud, not the normal tinny sound, Wow happy customer. I couldn't detect any other changes.

I live in a Chicago suburb. I got my 2011 Prius Two recall back in the winter. Since it has warmed up here a little I am getting 55 MPG in town versus about 48 to 50. I don't know if the increased MPG is a result of the recall or not. My driving pattern has not changed or nothing else has changed.

had the recall done at 1/2 tank. and the MPG was 48....after the recall, th eMPG showed 38. probably as a result of car sitting on parked with ice going on and off while doing the recall.

got the mpgs back up to 48 at the end of the tank.

haven't noticed any real difference yet....

The only update I will provide:
I'm now about a week in...the driving characteristics from day 1 of the update to today hasn't changed.
    • ICE is more pronounced/loud under heavier acceleration- e.g. power bar is 50% merging onto freeway...few seconds into it, ICE gets noticeably louder with no noticeable changes in actual acceleration.
    • ICE is also more pronounced/loud under low battery situations - e.g. I live on a hill that I generally try to EV mode all the way which brings the battery down to 2-3 bars, kicking it out of EV only mode right before turning the car off. Next day, ICE would start up as always but if I had to accelerate any bit, ICE would sound fairly normal for a moment then it noticeably revs up with no additional throttle input.
    • Regen bar takes more brake pedal force to fill up. There's a certain notch I feel in the brake pedal that used to engage full regen but now I have to go past that notch to engage. I'm not sure if the regen overall is decreased as I have no real way of accurately measuring that.
    • ECO and PWR modes have a [subjectively] greater difference in feel than before. ECO is MUCH more conservative than PWR and PWR is even more responsive than before and tends to keep the ICE on longer even when no throttle is being used and the car has already been warmed up, whereas ECO will engage EV almost instantly.
My MPG...is not any better than before, maybe worse by 1 or 2 miles. There's something about the way my 2013 drove before the update that was more fun...can't put my finger on it.

The only thing I've noticed that's different (with no change in driving habits) is that the max coolant temperature reaches 193-195 degrees F more often. It used to normally go no higher than 191F. I can only attribute it to the ICE running longer than before the software update. No big deal in my mind, just something I noticed.

I just realized that people drive in 3 different modes: eco, normal and power. It's possible that there is no difference in eco, yet there may be in the other modes. For the record, I drive normal mode only and there was acceleration difference, especially in the very first split second of WOT. However, after a few weeks of driving, I got used to the new normal.

I always use ECO..it controls how touchy the pedal is and helps me get better MPG. If I drive in Power I feel like when my wife drives...jerk back when gas applied..jerk forward when I have to hit the brakes. lol

Had the recall done 5 weeks ago. I live 7700 feet above sea level so my gas engine produces significantly less horsepower than at sea level (about 23% less). That's important because of my perception of the recall software change: The full, pedal-down acceleration has been reduced by a large amount in my 2012 Prius. I believe it's because the electric motor in my Prius produces a greater percentage of my total available horsepower and torque (gas engine + electric motor) as compared to people who drive near sea level. Electric motors are not affected by higher elevations. Thus, I'm REALLY noticing the effect of the recall. In power mode, I also don't nearly as much acceleration as I had before. It kind of sucks. I had a lot of passing power at 40mph to 50mph in power mode that I no longer have.

On the other hand, my Prius drops into EV mode much more quickly and much more often than it did before when driving around town. I would have paid extra to have a heavier duty inverter installed in my Prius as compared to the software change.

It's not a huge deal because I normally drive in eco mode, but on a two-lane highway (that's all there are where I live) I usually go into power mode when passing. My passing is now a little more scary.

Here's what my local dealer said:
D: Did you buy your (2011) Prius here?
    Me: No
D: Have you had it serviced here?
Me: Never had it serviced anywhere; not even the freebies in first two years.
D: Are you going to wait for it?
    Me: No.
    D: We'll call you when it's done.
    Me: Thanks
They actually called me that afternoon and I picked it up; and I asked them what they did.
    D: We upgraded the software.
    Me: THANKS
Car seems to run like it always did
p.s. I will never get used to it leaping 2 feet when I put the brakes while hitting bumps in the road; but Toyota doesn't seem to care, so I'll try to be careful.

The leaping is disconcerting every time it happens!

Like you, I will never get used to the "leaping" sensation or loss of braking when I brake over a bump or manhole cover. I think it is just an accident waiting to happen. If it occurs at the exact wrong time when a vehicle is stopped in front of you, right into their rear end you go.

Mine used to do it before the other recall and has been fine since. Maybe double check all the recalls are upto date?
