My thoughts exactly on the fading.. They do say in the option catalog that the film retards the fading. To me that means the area without the film close to the film protected paint will look really bad because of the differents in fading...

Looking at the choices for mudguards it seems that black is the only color. If you have a black prius the guards look great. Does anyone have thoughts about putting black gaurds on a lighter painted body, like Sea Pearl. Do you like the black flaps?

There is a seller on ebay who will paint them to match. Check him out. Search painted prius mudguards.

OEM Mudguards on both the blizzard v and the sea glass III (US version). I put them on the v and they were on the III. They both look fine and given our mpg on both to date I'm none to worried about the small amount of drag that may happen. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

I'm trying make up my mind between the US and Euro version of the mud guards/mud flaps. It doesn't seem like the US version is that popular (see previous links) based on the review. The Euro version has many more reviews. There were a couple interesting comments:

"They're not a tight seamless fit against the body, but not too bad. I plan on using some black silicone chalking to finish the job"

"Rear flaps were more difficult because lower hole on vertical portion of flap did not line up with edge of fender as instructions showed. If mounted as instructed, flap does not fit neatly against car."

Can anyone who has the Euro version confirm about how they fit? It seems like they don't flush without modification.

I know someone mentioned about effect on MPG but I can't imagine it would change it by much more than 1 MPG. No one has really discussed it though.

Haven't seen a hit on mpg. I've had them on for a week (euro). They are correct, there is 3 total precut holes, 2 vertical and 1 below the car. The lower vertical does not line up with what the instructions say so I just drilled where it was suppose to be.

Fits flush for me. I will take pictures when I get the chance to.

You must mean this eBay item. It is the only one I found. I assume it is the OEM mudguards. It also says it is for 2010-2011 Prius only.

I have the Euro Style mudgards on my Five....

The fronts are a snap to install- no new holes required in the fender.

The rears require you making a hole on the fender edge and underside. Nice thing is- the fender area back there is plastic- so you can just align the mudguard- prick the area with an awl- then use the self tapping feature of the included screws to punch through the plastic fender material.
When fitting the rear mudgard for fitment- hold it tightly against the car for a no-gap fit. Once it's good and snug- mark the hole locations with the awl. If you don't hold the mudgard tight against the car when marking the holes with the awl- the mudguard could have gaps between itself and the car.
