I've ****NEVER**** had a problem with it. I've let it go to flash for 10+ years, and it's been a non-issue. I have only ONCE run out of fuel in that 10 years, when I completely forgot that I needed to gas up before picking up one of my kids on a non-usual route. It's currently at half a tank and registering with no fuel line pressure and empty. Wth. They put some gas in, and it had no problem.

I was thinking the salvage yard would definitely be the way to go. It's an older car. This doesn't need to last forever. Do you know if any Gen-2 year will work?

Chap, there appear to be TWO right near me from Planit Salvage in Ballston Spa, NY. It says they're both Grade A. Wow. I'll be calling them in the morning!!!

Damn. That came out of nowhere. I'm definitely not looking forward to a FUEL SENSOR FAILURE. Wth indeed.

Good looking out with the preventative measures, Patrick Wong.

So... my intention is to run this car another three or so years. Put the warrantied fuel tank in? The salvage place said that the one had has been sitting around a while and he can test it but I don't think there's a warranty.

My understanding is that Asian and EUR models have a real working has tank - without a bladder. I think you have to replace that tank when you replace the sensor. Maybe you could get a tank without that damned bladder. Just a thought.
