Where is the exact law that states only OEM cats are allowed on Priuses in California?

In other words Every 2000-2003 Prius

 

Are there any LOS ANGELES based installers of aftermarket carb approved CATs?

 

How lucky we are in the UK where they're not allowed to test emissions on hybrid cars.
I only wish I'd thought of the idea of taking my Toyota cat off and selling it before it was stolen.

 

As far as I know, the only CARB-approved (exempted) aftermarket catalytic converters for Prius cars are those recently introduced by Magnaflow, which any muffler shop should be able to install, if they can get them.

Magnaflow’s website now lists the products as “In Stock,” and the prices are comparable to those of the equivalent Toyota parts. For second-generation (2004–2009) Prius cars, for example, Magnaflow’s list price for the front catalytic converter is $1,981, and for the rear, $590. They also offer an exhaust pipe with both already welded in place for $2,950.

This isn’t a surprise: Magnaflow expects a return on its investment in product development, testing, and certification, and to recover the costs of the precious metals, other materials, and manufacturing.

 

Finding someone to install a non-CARB approved Cat will be easy... Hard part is the people who sell them won't ship to California, so you need to find someone in a different state to ship your order to.

 

So basically just buy Toyota cat lol. My question is finding someone to add barriers and metal to make stealing this more difficult.
