    I’ve never run mine low. Just curious, does the gauge go from two bars to blinking? Or does it go to one bar then blinking? I’m assuming from this discussion that the time between bars is not linear at the end?

    One bar before blinking.

    As already mentioned, from two steady bars, it goes through one steady bar before getting to one blinking bar.

    I can't speak for the Gen2, but my Gen3's one steady bar goes half the distance of the bars just above it.

    For my Gen2 (a 2006), the last pip starts flashing at about 350 to 390 miles since last fillup. These days, I typically refuel when I get to the range of 520 to 550 miles since last fill. IOW, I typically drive for 130 to 200 miles with last pip flashing. Mind you I had to get my Gen2 to take fuel in accord with factory specifications before driving for 200 miles with pip flashing. Currently, my Gen2 is able to take fueling of 10 or 11 gallons.

    On my '06 I get gas at one pip, which usually occurs after having driven around 450 miles.

    The '09 on the other hand is very inconsistent. The "Low Fuel" alert typically comes on after having driven only ~300-350 miles. In that car I've driven it 200 miles past the low fuel alert before refilling. Relying on consumption is far more accurate and I'll refuel around 400 miles or so.

    In the northeast US here, Ihave three major considerations affecting when to fuel in Winter as follows:
    1. how much has tank capacity been reduced by shrinking of tank bladder in winter;
    2. how much has my gas mileage been affected by cold weather; and
    3. how much idling/warming up has been done since last fillup.

    In Winter, fuel warning usually starts flashing at 315 miles. Typically, I then get fuel at 365 to 375 miles.

    While in Summer, i have gone 620 miles on one tank of fuel. Just my two cents.
