#932 - fine by me, I'm in no rush to get it. I had login issues both when I ordered and then when I tried to confirm the order, and then had to go to a meeting, during which Dianne quite rightly badgered me with an email to confirm my order. I didn't confirm until around 12:30 Central.
I submitted my order right on 9am and got number 122. After Dianne responded I went in to confirm and got the "Sold Out" message that went away after a little while and I was able to complet the comfirmation process. I just went back in and checked my order and I still get the "Sold Out" message at start up. The confirmation number didn't change so if they are based on the order they were confirmed then no telling what the true order number is. The freeky thing is that I logged on again this afternoon and there was an email from Toyota that sugested I go in and order my Plug-in Prius. Noel
I ordered around 9:15 AM and I had order number 612. I just received an e-mail from my dealer with a $500 below MSRP price, which I foolishly accepted, and I'm still 612. I realize that Toyota may limit the total number of Plug-in Prii built in 2012, but I'm dead certain that they'll build them on the same line as the regular Prius, which ships over 10,000 Prii a month to the United States and over 33,000 a month worldwide. The first 1,000 plug-in Prii might all come over to the US within a few weeks of each other.
I'm in Rochester, NY, went to the Dealer and used his PC. Right at Noon Eastern (9:00 Pacific Time) I submitted and got 110. Wow, not bad. However, the Dealer's Toyota guy at Dorschel was on Vacation until tomorrow. I couldn't believe it. My salesman will make sure he enters it tomorrow. Also, I thought it strange that I got an email from Toyota 2 hours later, reminding me that "The order window for the all-new 2012 Prius Plug-in is now open." A little late !!!
I decided not to order one. Costs way tooo much versus the benefit. I did get an email from Toyota at 3:30 pm Pacific time telling me that I still had time to order....
The lag on the email was actually intentional gang. The eager beavers who have been following the timelines closely got in before the traffic jam And yes, actual production timing is only secured once you confirm you order after your dealer inputs the price, only a car is held (not the place in line) when you submit the initial configuration to your dealer. So, if you're waiting on your dealer to confirm the price and you're eager for an early delivery, call the dealer to expedite their response online. Omg I'm sorry. I had no idea I'd woken you, P!!!! You know I'd seen the "sold out" at the website when trying to help a client with his own order and semi-freaked when so many orders were languishing in the unconfirmed zone. I feared the worst... Orders in the queue and the car sold out... So I made some calls and sent emails urging y'all to get back in and finalize.
Wondered that myself. There I was at my desk, mflexing my fingers and getting ready to start looking for orders And BAM my email messages started pouring in. It was not even 8:55!
So based on Erica's note the order # is not a good indicator of place in line but rather time of receipt of the "order has been completed" email? If so I am 9:21am.
It makes me a little angry that these people managed to get in ahead of the posted time. I tried early but it didn't work for me. Maybe they let in some orders early to test the system out??? I NEED my car to arrive early (ASAP) because my current car may not last past next spring (and when it dies I'll have to cancel my order and buy something else...that would be sad).
Maybe they did realize it and that is why there were only 5K cars available (as per Dianne) compared to the 15K originally mentioned.
