I envy Americans for the price you pay for gas at the pumps. Here in Toronto Ontario, Canada today, gas was $1.38 per litre (regular). There are 3.785 litres in a US gallon which makes my price at the pump a staggering $5.22 per gallon. Make sure you gas up before you come up to visit!!!
Still at $4.47&9/10 per gallon of regular in Honolulu. Just put in $30 = 6.698 gals. Neighbor Islands must be close to $5.00 - maybe higher on some of the smaller islands. AND I STILL AIN'T GOT MY C II!!!
Here is a color coded price map from one of the volunteer spotter sites, Gasbuddy.com: USA National Gas Price Heat Map
In Rosemead which is about 15 miles east of Los Angeles regular can be found for about 4.15 which was the last fill up I had last week at an Arco station.
I have a place near Playas of Tijuana and stop for gas when coming back to So Cal. Calculating a comparable price of gas involves converting liters to gallons, applying the exchange rate published at the station, and finding an honest station that actually pumps the gas as displayed by the pump. I like the Pemex on 2nd EB just past the Hwy 1 (Via Rapido). They provide full services including clean windshield and checking fluids/tires for about $3/GAL.
Maybe we should all get some of the Kona Nightingales from the Big Island? We could be "Donkeys 'R Us". How much does horse fodder cost now a days?
