Just bought: 08 package 2 in RI for $22,400 (not incl tax+title)
    had as extras:
carpet floor mats (including cargo mat)
    cargo net
rear bumper applique (the clear one)

$22,400 was what the dealer quoted. No haggling. I had two other quotes that were slightly higher.
There are no package 1s available here either.

That's a pretty good price and right in the ballpark of several quotes I received for package 2. It's interesting that some dealers appear to be high volume, low profit margin, while others won't even give you the time of day. For example, I emailed several dealers in the San Diego area both last month and last year, and there was one dealer who in both years offered the lowest price within an hour of receiving my email. They are a family-owned dealership. However, the Arizona dealers were pretty hard nosed and offered the highest prices. Congratulations!

Hi All, Today we negotiated a deal on a 2008 with pkg. 2 & Leather interior. Th car's price quote was $23,700. As I am a Sam's Club member the dlr. took off $300 which made the the sale price $23,400. I had done my online homework this morning so I knew what the car cost the dlr. & what the options cost him.

We wanted a "Base" car with no pkg., but they only have pkg. 2 & up. I told the salesman I thought $600-(With tax) for a pkg. I really don't want was a waste of money. I then asked him to reduce the car's price by $300- (1/2 of pkg. 2's cost). As we bought our 2006 Prius from this dlr. & also bought a 1999 Camry from them I told him we will continue to buy from them as we've had a good relationship with them.

He went to the boss and they said they'd take off $200 more as they like us and want to keep customers for life. I said OK & felt it was fair. So, I was down to $23,200.

I had my 2003 Honda Accord @ that dlr. 2 weeks ago getting a trade in figure. They will allow $12,000 for the Accord. That was fair as it has a 6 cyl. engine and was rear ended 4 yrs. ago. I also dreaded the thought of dealing with people that would either try to low ball me, not show up, or can't get financed. As it turns out I would have been lucky to get $13,900 for the Honda as gas prices are going way up & people are shying away from 6 cyl. cars.

One last thing. We both wanted leather seats & the dlr. said he could get a "Base" car with pkg. 2 & the leather. The leather sells for $1100 and my wife and I love leather. Our Honda has very comfortable leather seats.

I also found out there are 2 xtra fees we have to pay in FL. One was $55 & the other fee was $618- it was called an administrative fee. Edmund's shows those mandatory charges for most of the SE states. The bottom line is those fees add $673 more to every Prius sold here.

Now I see why some of you get much lower prices in other states. I'm happy with the deal the dlr. will get the car we want in 1-2 weeks. I am not in a hurry. We picked Barcelona Red with dark grey leather interior.

BTW, The Prius that has no cruise control is called "Standard" model, and mine is the "Base" model. Base comes with cruise without adding a pkg. We are excited & can't wait for our new Prius. Now we will have 2 Prius's that get over 50 MPG and my Harley- It too gets a solid 50 MPG.

It was a good day for us today. I'd be interested in any feedback on how well you think I did on this deal. Thank you all.:p

My wife and I just bought 2. Drk. Gray package 1 for 24k which included the 10 yr 100k warranty. Seaside Pearl package 4 for 25.5k which also included the 10 year 100k warranty. The deal maker for us was that they took both cars for even trades. Everywhere else we went they wanted to roll over part of the balance to the new loan. Check engine light was on in the Jetta, it had balding tires and my wife hit a shopping cart at a high speed. Don't ask me how, but glad that it is gone.

It sounds like most of you are doing better than me on this topic. My wife and I have decided to buy a Prius, but the local (Albuquerque) dealers won't give us a quote below the sticker price. One of them has given us the usual "we'll work with you" bs but insists we have to sit down and write a contract before the "magic number" can be given. It reminds me of Dorothy's first attempted visit to see the Wizard. If it's worth it, I don't mind taking a one-way flight within 600-700 miles or so to make a purchase. I've done that before. If anyone knows of a dealer willing to "deal" in Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, or Arizona, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

I would recommend you go to Edmunds.com and send out an email through that website requesting dealer quotes for the areas you would be willing to purchase from. You simply type in a zipcode for the area(s) where you might buy a car and it provides a short list of dealers in that area.

I did that a few weeks ago (I'm in San Diego) for dealers in southern CA and Arizona. The AZ dealers wouldn't give me the time of day, but Honda of El Cajon gave me the quickest and lowest quote. You might consider requesting a quote from them, and if it's the lowest, hop on a Southwest flight to San Diego and enjoy a nice drive back to N.M!

    Hello,

Just joined today. I took delivery of a Pkg #2 (with floor mats) a week ago from "the big dealer in Danvers, MA" for $21,972 (not incl State Sales Tax/Title/Plate fees - just the car/dealer fees). This was after a bunch of internet quotes via Sams Club, Carsdirect, Edmunds, and Autobytel.

I thought this was a pretty good deal. Hope the info helps

spf...I've been to Edmunds many times but never gotten a quote through them. Good idea...I'll try that. Thanks. Also, looks like you have a silver pine prius, which is 1st choice on my list of colors. Looks like tomctomc got a pretty good deal to me.

I got my pkg 2 with full mats, cargo net & first aid kit for 22,500. I didn't think that was too bad.

I'd recommend it. I use mine all the time after grocery shopping. They're one of those simple items that you never think about but constantly use.

It isn't. Here in FL you would add another $673 I believe for some SE adm. fee & another $55 fee. That would bring it up to about $23,200.

Price Of A 2008 Prius With Pkg. 2 --Internet $22,072

I just bought a Prius Pkg 2 with mats and nothing else for $22,072 over the internet (and phone). I had it shipped from New Hampshire to North Carolina and still saved over $1000. Try Bill Kinney at Ira Toyota in Manchester. 866.225.5472.

Hello everyone! This is my first post, as I just purchased my 2008 Prius Pkg #2 5 days ago!! :tongue1: I got the car @ $500 below their stated invoice, $22,000. It came with carpet mats and I even got her to throw in the cargo net  I also purchased the maintenance package (11 oil changes, tire rotations and 3 major services) for an additional $1095. All in all, I think I got a great deal... Every dime has been worth it because I LOVE MY PRIUS!! :cheer2:

Remember to take the Prius price that others post with a grain of salt, because the final price can be affected by

    1) Trade in of your old car

    2) Financing

Let's say the dealer wants to sell you a package #2 for $23,500, but you only want to pay $22,000 ($300 better than the best price seen on PriusChat for example). You offer up your car as a trade in. Let's say the car has a blue book value of $15,000, but the dealer only offers you $10,000 for it. They could knock the final price of the car down to $22,000 if you "buy today". You think you've got a great deal because it is the lowest price you've seen on PriusChat, but the dealer has just come out $3,500 better because they low balled you on the trade in.

Ditto that financing, you could get a lower price for the car, but a much higher financed interest rate which will have the dealer $$$ ahead by the time the loan is paid off.

Each deal is unique, use the other deals posted here as guides, but try to get all the info you can (on trade ins and such).

I'd hafta say thats good, my #2 was 24,400 out the door (all taxes and fees, everything), and if its okay, i really have to plug earl stewarts dealership, as the other two local Toyota dealerships quoted me over $26k, for the exact same thing (and earls delivered it with 1 mile on the odometer, i kid you not).
