What's the best way of running the Air Conditioner

    Here On northern Indiana it seems to be either hot or cold, and almost always muggy so I rarely drive with the windows down. Not to mention we have a VERY high percentage of cigarette smokers, like every other car in traffic is a chimney, so I usually keep my setting on recycle or the smell gets sucked into my car, and ac around 72 or less, I'm hot blooded.

    Ha! I thought that open windows is the second worst thing that can happen to the drag coefficient, never mind the evil noise and dust/pollen.

    I almost never use the auto setting. It cranks the fan speed on high which is noisy and too much air blowing which is annoying. I just set the temp to 70 and adjust the fan speed manually on recirculating air. Sometimes I will run in ECO mode to get more efficiency.

    101 here in Cali today....went to nearby town 30 miles away...ran AC on 69 degrees ECO mode on.....was surprised to get 46 MPG as I never have gotten over 44 whether around town or driving to Chico.....gas prices are rising out here....$2.45 a gallon at cheap stations.....glad I have my Prius c
