I hope my Prius V comes with Toyo Tires. The alternate Bridgestone tires have some pretty poor reviews. Bridgestone Turanza EL400-02 I currently have Bridgestone Potenza RE 960AS Pole Position tires in a slightly larger (225/45R17) size on my current car and they are excellent tires for the price and would probably replace the Turanza with them. Any experience out there with Toyo?
Keep in mind that what you would normally choose to put on a regular car may not be the same you would want to put on a Prius. Sport oriented tires inccur a big hit on fuel efficiency and it is very noticable on cars that get 40+mpg. Look for tires that are rated for efficiency and/or low rolling resistance.
LMAO! I called it... I knew I would get the Michelin's and guess what? Yep, I got the Michelin's on my Prius V with AT... THey look great but I had Michelin's once before and did not like them. So far though I can say they do handle great at least.
Danny correct, and it goes to what Toyota can get cheapest at time of their production of the car. No way I would get the 17" as they are costly to replace and not in stock on the Big Island of Hawaii. The 17" are never on sale here.
Sorry that I haven't posted regarding this prior to now (I've been out driving). Got my Package #5 on May 22 & I got Michelin Pilot HX MXM4s (P215/45R17). Whatever that all means. Seems to drive just fine so far.
Just checked around - these tires are rated generally quite highly - except for....price. At TireRack $219 each. That they are - but who cares - they came on the car. Sure hope my V has these! The Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 is an All-Season Grand Touring tire that was developed to provide driving harmony by blending responsive handling with good ride and noise comfort. It was developed to blend some of the looks and handling of a performance tire with the reduced noise and ride comfort associated with a premium passenger tire, as well as provide year-round traction, even in light snow.
As mentioned, that was one reason I was hoping not to get them... I had them on my Axura some years back and while good handling tires they wear down fast and cost a lot to replace. I replaced them back then with Falcon's though and they handled as well if not better and for half the price.
On the subject of tires if one searches on the Costco Tire site they carry Michelins and BF Goodrich as replacements for the Prius. Didn't see any OEM Yokohamas. Michelins generally have a nice ride but poor wear characteristics. They are usually more expensive. My 2 cents
Yeah they wear fairly quickly. Two of my friends have TSXs that came with those tyres. They didn't last as long as the tyres on either our Camry or Prius.
Thanks...had a long day yesterday, but I really like it so far. I will spend the rest of today trying to figure out all the usaual stuff, and what I can't figure out, I should have lots of help in Sunday
