Just changed to my winter wheels. Only got two weeks on the summer wheels, should have had it delivered with the winter ones. There have been some snow already. Well, took note of what kind of tyres it has when I changed:

    Summer: Michelin Primacy HP 245/45 R17 87W
Winter: Continental ContiViking Contact 5 192/55 R16 91T (same Toyota rims as my dad has on his 3yo Avensis)

I just took deliver of my V with ATP yesterday from NJ. I had to travel 280 miles to get it because the Sandy Beach and ATP combination is so rare on the east coast. I had been waiting for 3 months with no avail. Now I am so happy to get it and love the car. I am easpecially happy for the Michelin Pilot HX MXM 4 tires because I heard from this forum that Michelin tires are quieter.:)

On my Prius 2010 "Life" with 17" I got the Michelin Primacy HP. Both on the US and German website of Michelin, the 215/45 R17 version of these tyres are not available. I wonder if they are custom made for Toyota...
Not even on the Japanese Michelin website the exact same tyres are to be found:
    Michelin Japan 17" Tyres
They are available though in the LC version.

Thanks - too bad the press release is only available in Japanese and not also in English.
The question is - what happens when I will need to change tires in xx months/years? Will these be the only tires available for the Prius and will be therefore more expensive??? or are there similar choices from other manufacturer's available?

First, the 15 and 17 inch tires are standard sizes and there are many brands and models to chose from. Just go to TireRack.com for example.

Toyota obtains its tire supply from multiple sources to limit the effect of supply problems, just as most manufacturers for any product would do. The Michelin Primacy HP is but one Original Equipment tire, and Michelin is probably using that fact to promote that particular tire.

Toyo A20s on my package V with ATP purchased on 10/29. I drove a V with Michelins a couple of months earlier. I think the Michelins were a little quieter than the Toyos.
