Unless equipped (such as on Canadian Prius), it's advertised only as auto-off on U.S. Prius so it's not a manufacturing defect.

 

It is many little pieces. I used paper templates, then cut the small felt pieces. The felt looks like one piece when you’re done.

 

My next project is full auto lights. I ordered the kit yesterday. I am going to follow halkmoon77 install info. This should have been standard in the Prius.

I've owned it for four weeks and two things are really starting to bug me. It is a different car and things are different and I can adjust to buttons and knobs being in a different locations.
Like the Cruise control I'm use to it being on the right stock but no biggie that they move it to lower area under the steering wheel and it is just different.

1. The stocks on the steering wheel are driving me nuts.
It is the angle that makes them not a natural feel. That 60-75 degree angle is odd to say the least. They need a S arm so that the stock sticks out at a 90 degree angle in the same position. It would have a more natural and comfortable feel.

2. There has to be a way to get the display to be brighter when the lights are on. Here in Pennsylvania when driving through a construction zone you must have your lights on. Well in day light with the lights on the display will not get bright as when the lights are off. And if the sun is at the right angle in front of the car it washes out the display. And yes I have the dial at full bright. When that knob is at full on the display "should" be as bright as when the lights are off.

 

There IS a way to make them brighter. Slide the roller switch all the way up, and then press a little harder...there is a setting above that, which will click. Then the display will be lit up just the same amount as when the lights are off. (just remembe to switch it back down at night...the display is REALLY bright if it's all the way up at night.)

 

On XM with the NAV, I wish you could always see what the song and artist playing are no matter what screen you are on: map, presets, etc.

The key fob should include a button to open the hatchback!!

 

If you're talking about unlocking the hatch, you have that already. If you're wanting a power hatch opener, forget that... the motor and mechanism to do that is too weighty and we're already pushing EPA weight ratios...

 

The glasses holder on the 2010 is significantly smaller than the earlier models so does not fit wraparound sunglasses. The 2nd complaint I have about the sunglass holder is the notch for the glasses bridge is far too wide for normal glasses so it rests on top of it rather than nestled around it. The third and last issue is the rattling around of my glasses when I take a sharp corner because of the 2nd issue and the lack of soft material surrounding the glasses. I just attempted to solve the rattling issue by using double stick tape and some thin sheets of a rubber material to cover as much of the inner surfaces of the holder. May not solve the sound issue completely but it can't hurt.

 

Aesthetically, I'd change the steering wheel. It's pretty ugly.

 

The only thing about the steering wheel that I don't care for is how it feels. It's awfully rough against my hands (I'm used to a smoother-textured steering wheel). But I know you can easily fix that with getting steering wheel covers.

 

I'm thrilled to be at 100 miles with my first hybrid. Still got that Christmas morning feeling. That said, the center storage consule bugs me with sliding the lid back so far. Also, I realize there's covers and plugs, but I worry that the 12v socket and the Aux input jack will get crud in them since they're on the bottom rather than a side...I'm not an immaculate car person.

It would be nice to have an additional fuel consumption measure. Instead of by 1 and 5 minute intervals. Also have fuel consumption based by the last 1 and 5 mile intervals.

In the end, I would rather know how much gas it took me to go those past n miles, rather than based on how much stop and go (traffic, lights, etc) I had.

Sorta like the instantaneous mpg, but based on distance instead point or minute of time.

I'd change the navigation system to a Garmin-like system with intuitive functions and reasonably priced updates.
