What is the correct tire pressure for Gen 4 195/65R15 91H

    So today after a few days of owning my new Three w/ ATP, I decided to stop by the local service station and I checked all my tire pressures (I use both a digital and a analog) and low and behold all tires were at 32.5lbs???? But what's nuts is I have been getting phenomenal mpg's these last few days. Lol.

    I went a paid the $1.50 for air and bumped them up to 42 front and 41 rear (44max per sidewall, 36f / 35r recommended) and then went on a 25 mile drive. Not sure if I like em that hard as on the highway I think I felt some sway? I've alway ran all my old Prii in the higher range, not sure what's up.

    Maybe I will lower the psi to 40f / 39r and see how that feels...

    What's everyone else with the 15's running?


    Does anyone know why the recommended difference between front and rear is now only 1psi? It used to be 2... Weight distribution maybe?

    Oh, btw I have the Dunlop Enasave tires equipped.

    That's one of the red-flags-to-a-bull* in my life. The other is having to pay for parking at hospitals.

    What's the spec, in the door jamb? I would take the higher value (assuming Toyota's still saying one value for front, a lower for rear), add a pound or three, no more, and try that on all four. I used to set ours (low profile, unforgiving 17"') in the teeth rattling 40's, then dropped to 36 all around (spec is 33/32 front/rear) and, suprise suprise: little or no noticeable change in mpg.

    I have an unsubstantiated hunch too, that running significantly higher pressures is going to shorten the lifespan of suspension components.

    As stated in my post above the recommended pressure is 36 front and 35 rear...

    Directly across the street from where I paid for the air there is a wawa with free air, but it once emptied my tires when attempting to fill due to a faulty nozzle...

    So I either pay the $1.50 or I use my good bicycle floor pump.... It's in the 90's today feeling more like 100 so I opted for the lazy route and paid. Lol.

    Actually my drive home from running errands today with the higher pressure wasn't too bad. I still might lower it to 40/39 one the tires cool down but we shall see...

    I've noticed of late Chevron's air sometimes seems to crap out, will barely raise the tire pressures. My guess is when they replace the compressors they're cheaping out.

    My perspective is biased by having 17" too. In winter with 15" snow tires I keep them over 40 psi, they're much more forgiving.

    Also keep in mind that the Eco's recommended tire pressures are 39 front, 36 rear, I believe. So, that might be a decent baseline.

    I went back down to the recommended PSI on my 15" tires, ( or just 2 over) and my car feels "right."
    Smooth as silk, and 62 mpg in town.

    (Now I just wish I had quiet tires!)

    But...

    Recommended Tire Pressure is 3 psi apart on the Eco?? My door jam on my Three w/ ATP says only 1 psi difference. 36/35? Could that 60-70 lbs weight savings of the Eco not having a spare and wiper equate to the 3 psi difference for weight distribution?? I wonder...

    Further are all three's / fours suggested psi 36/35 or are the ones with ATP different due to a little extra weight?..

    You got stuck with the toyo's? Right?:rolleyes::confused:

    I lucked out and got the Dunlop Enasaves. They seem wonderful. I would not call them loud in the least..

    Yep, 15" Toyo. 36/35. Pretty good handling tires. Smooth, steering is good, cornering is good, braking is fine. I just have to try and avoid the noisy roads.

    So I went a lowered my tire pressure today from the 42 front / 41 rear to 40 front and 39 rear...which I raised originally from the dealerships 32.5 yesterday morning...

    Heading out now on a drive through the Amish Countryside and I will report back with results..

    You can get pumps that plug into your lighter socket, which enables you to do your tires at home when they are cold. I kept the one out of my Sonata Hybrid and that thing's a lifesaver. I bumped mine to 42/40 after I got the car, based on the recommendations here.

    It was included with my HSH since the car didn't come with a spare tire, just an inflation kit. I've seen them at Wal Mart and I bet you could get one from Amazon too.

    Not to revive an old thread but I need input on tire pressure for my 2017 Prius. 15" wheels and Toyo tires. I ordered an electric pump and I want to top them off but not to the point where the tire pressure or components of the tire and car lose performance. I was thinking 38 front and 37psi on the rear tires. Thoughts?

    I'd say experiment with what works best for you.

    I'll note that the Two Eco specifies 39 front, 36 rear out of the box, and the tires are actually the same as the One/Two/Three/Four (which call for 36 front, 35 rear).

    I've tried different pressures between 32 and 40ish - I didn't see much difference in handling, but the 32 gave a little better ride. I didn't keep the pressures long enough to see if they had an effect on fuel use - I felt 40 was a bit too hard for use all the time on varied roads. I've just left them at 36 all around.
