Thanks to everyone for your advice and comments. Sold the car yesterday for a grand. The guy was really impressed with the condition I kept the car in. The car was mint inside and excellent exterior. Good luck to him and all prius owners. Unless Toyota comes up with a better system I will pass on the hybrids. Hey Toyota. Put a switch on the hybrids where you can bypass the traction battery when it goes bad.
Toyota don't read these forums. If you understood the HSD (hybrid synergy drive) design, you would understand you cannot just bypass the traction battery. What would be the point of a hybrid that had no battery assist, anyway? Good luck in your endeavors, too.
