FYI, a toyota tech won't have to check for clean title history. WHen we apply for a warranty claim, it will show as a salvaged through Toyota's system. A salvage title loses any and all warranties, federal, state, local, etc.

And if you try to "wash" a title to clean it up, you are asking for jail time. Federal offenses. If you think 10 years in a jail is worth the 6k you paid... If I am not mistaken, I believe the jail/fines are more than trying to roll back an odometer. That is 10 years/$25,000 per occurence.

Salvage vehicle are never worth what people pay for them. They sound like a great idea as far as price goes, but still not worth the headaches.

Chalk it up as a learning experience, and good luck with the repairs.

I just bought my 2007 prius used.. the only place I have found that has this data is in the warranty booklet.. my car didn't have this booklet but Toyota is sending me a new one.
I found some warranty info from a 2005 civic hybrid showed what was covered and for how long..

Here is on for a 2007 altima... look under the CA emissions part..
this only talks about california but the other one I saw talked about CA, NY and some other CA emissions states..

Congrats on a great deal! It is not worth paying 2X for the warranty. My car is salvage also, cost me a lot more too. I am in zip 10533. If you are not far away, I might be able to help. Did you check the charge on the A/C?

no I dont have the tools I will take to an AC guy in queens have him check it. summer is over and dont need the cooling for another couple of months. it does warm up pretty good.

oh well once I am not a student and have good paying job my time will be worth more and can afford a car with less headache but for now this should do it.

MFD= main screen..they are known to go bad and sometimes stop the AC from cooling.see if you can set it from the main screen then try the steering wheel.

Sometimes you lose the whole display many have

oh the Navigation screen works perfect ,
the AC even warms up nicely just doesnt cool. If it is not missing an actuaul part then I just take it to an ac guy to check the gas pressure and fill it up. hopefully there is no leak.

here is how you know if the a/c works, well at least the compressor. run the car until the engine shuts off, then turn on the a/c on max , go to the front of the vehicle and hear for a whine, it may be loud, it may not, if there is no whine at all, the compressor isnt running and theres a problem usually shown on the screen. But if the air isnt cool i suggest u have it vacuumed and recharged, preferably at a toyota dealer since the compressor oil is specially made for high voltage systems, ( ND-11 )

Make sure the ac guy doesnt use conventional ester oils in the a/c

More then just using the correct oil, he should not use equipment used on a regular air conditioner, the oil from the system could contaminate the Prius.

well most of the time the oil in the manifold gauges are very minuscule, I doubt dealers keep special manifold gauges just for the Prius.

The same manifold gauge i used on the 01 prius, i used on the 05 prius and accord hybrid, no problems after 40k miles.

It is not the gauge. It is the reclamation system. The service shops are required to pump out the R134, fix the problem and then pump it back. This system is contaminated withe the oil. Steve Woodruff told me he ruined the first Prius AC he worked on because of this.

Vertex I wasnt planning to take it to a prius tech ac guy
I was hopping regular AC guys (behind Shea Staidium in corona) could do it for cheap.
so far I know that I have to tell them to use the special oil for high voltage cars ND 11.
what else should I tell the AC guy to avoid any problem and fix it the first shot?

    thanks

The ND-11 is hard to find, even for me, maybe now in 09 its a lot easier.

Pull a vacuum for 10 minutes at least to remove the moisture. And check for any leaks for at least 10 minutes.

back to my original question on the missing part that came out to be the snorkel ..

do I need to replace the snorkel?
    does it improve ANYTHING?
what is that sensor on it for?
