Kind of surprised we haven't seen a design in response to the oil glut.

Not sure if @Chris Wolfgram would be interested but I suspect a GR Corolla Hatchback is in the pipeline.

My guess on the specs is based on the GR Yaris

    1.6 litre turbo 3-cylinder
    260hp
    265lb-ft
    0-60 in about 5.3 to 5.8 sec
2WD with Torsen limited slip (I don't think it'll get AWD but I could be wrong)

It'll be interesting. Seeing FORD has canned the Ford FOCUS RS for 2020 - but the smaller, Yaris sized Fiesta ST is getting rave reviews.

I honestly entered the Prius market in 2019 planning on buying one of the really cool Prius station wagons I was seeing around town. Learning about its demise threw me for a loop, and forced me to go shopping the Kia Niro, as well as other options.

What it came down to was the the Gen4 Prius hatch back was just enough for my needs (I took items over to the dealership to see if they'd fit into the back with the seats down), and the Prius had the most generous driver's door entry design out of any car or smaller SUV I tried (which was shocking in and of its own - if I have to bend my neck and spine to get into the car or small SUV you want to sell me, then I don't want to buy that car).

Coming in 2021. The Sienna hybrid. Maybe this will fill in for the "Prius Wagon".

Yes, and I think it's because the roofline at the point of entry for the driver is quite high - supposedly for aerodynamics. The odd time I've got in the back (to vacuum or buckle the dog or grandchildren in, I notice the back roof height is lower.

That's a good image to illustrate that the peak of the roof has changed over the generations. In the Gen 2, it's over the lap of the front passengers. In the Gen 3, it was moved to the centre of the car for a sportier look. In the Gen 4, it returns to the lap area.

The Cd of the Gen 4 is 0.24. The Cd of the Prime is 0.25 (due to the different front end design which was offset by the dual wave rear window for a net of 0.25)

That peak over the lap-area means a more generous top-of-seat-cushion to bottom of the top door-sill space for entry for all of us. I was bracing to have to buy the more expensive RAV4 hybrid, but it's door ingress was much like the Corolla's, so I ruled it out.

I would never know. I don't ever ride in my back seat :) lol Seriously, that might be a problem for rideshare.
Sure is a LOT better looking car than my Prius though. For everything "other than rideshare" it would still be my first pick, for a sport economy car.
