Volt 2 improved on acceleration performance, increased EV range, raised gas MPG and added a middle seat for that emergency 5 passenger capacity. It's a great overall improvement over the Gen 1. Not sure if I can say the same for the Gen 4 Prius.
True but that was over 10 years ago. I realize that Prius has over 10 years of development over the Volt 2. However, It seems like Chevy is listening to its customers about what they want in a Gen 2 Volt. Toyota just does whatever they want and not care about what its customers want.
Many stated the want for improved handling. Gen-4 delivers that. Many sales opportunities have been lost on the GM showroom floor (think about how much focus has been on conquest sales instead). Toyota continues to strive to reach those potential customers.
Many also stated they want 4WD but that's not coming to the US. Does Toyota not know that it snows in the US? We'll see if Toyota's listening to its customers when the new plugin comes out. let's see what excuses Toyota comes up with for another plugin with short EV range.
Look, if you think something that is possible is NOT being provided by Toyota, treat it as a business opportunity . . . it is called SEMA. Before there were ANY plug-in hybrids, home-brew USA engineers 'shamed' them into do the right thing. This is a business opportunity. After all, where did "American exceptionalism" go? Seriously, grow a pair. Bob Wilson
I waited months for the new Prius and have delayed replacing my worn out Corolla with 271,000 miles in high hopes this redesign would be the car I would be driving for the next 15+ years. It only took 2 minutes to evaluate this compilation of 1990s Saturn and Subaru SVX as hands down the ugliest modern car ever made. This is coming from a guy who daily drives a smoking scratched up beater with peeling clear coat and mismatched rear bumper. People frequently laugh at my current car and I laugh too and drive on. This new Prius however is not only hideous, it literally appears the designers were using drugs and broken crayons. Sorry, I just can't see myself in the new Prius with that rear end, the missing glove box, possible missing spare and rear seats that don't fold down near flat. I want the option to sleep in my car on extended road trips in the wilderness and love what only a Prius can offer - 50mpg, fold down rear seats and automatic overnight climate control without the engine running constantly. I refuse to even consider a Gen 4 and am currently far along in negotiations for a new 2015 Prius II offered at hefty discount.
Improving mpg from horrible to less horrible isnt that great... They also removed it from most World markets, so thats not great at all.
Those countries that have the integrated turn signal still have that chrome piece. It's well integrated and looks nearly identical in all photos.
Without seeing it in person and riving it, so depending on reviews from Danny and mags, I would say this is awesome Prius. Here is the list of my complaints. I wont list design since I didnt see it live and plus it will make car head turner, which is desirable. 1. Entune/Toyota Touch 2 not supporting Android Auto. While Entune hardware is much improved, too bad they did not add support for Android Auto. Yes it sucks right now, but it would be nice for future proofing. 2. Too much windows! I would have preffered more coupe like windows, with 20" less side window space so it looks sportier. Yes, this was done on purpose, but I am complaining from my own personal view. 3. Stock wheel options - I hope European Prius will get different wheels, like ones shown by Toyota NL on Prius (similar to IS-F wheels), or at least have them as lower cost option in configurator. 4. Interior options in Europe - In Europe, we might get only black/black interior which I would not like. Gray real leather shown in media drives, with black/light leather contrast is what I would personally get. 5. 2.0l engine instead of 1.8l - I wish it had more HP for the highway use. Looking over at above options, seems to me like I want Lexus version of Prius, however Lexus network here is poor and cars are too expensive when new, so I dont want to pay for Lexus . All above being written is my own personal opinion. I like new Prius so far a lot and would buy it over anything at this price right now in Europe.
Having a back-up camera is great, but why the hell don't they hide it behind the Toyota badge ? It's near to useless when it has rained !
Why are we even comparing Volt (Opel Ampera in Europe?) when the price difference is about 15k USD (Volt being more expensive). Volt uses about 25 kWh per 100km meaning that charge for 100km would cost 0.1-0.2 USD * 25 = 2.5 - 5 USD per 100km. With gas prices at about 1.7 USD per liter calculation is 1.7 * 4 = 6.8 USD. Prius battery cost: 1.8k EUR Ampera battery: around 9k EUR (not that for this you can get used 3rd gen from 2010!) And that is probably the reason why Ampera/Volt won't be available in EU in the future. Prius 2016 will. And not to mention that Chevrolet has had awful history in europe (reliability) and has gotten itself a bad word - GM is even pulling all Chevys from EU market.
it's in danny's video, the third one with the toyota product guy. as they go over the interior, he says they'll have a black stick on insert accessory to cover the white if you don't like it. of course, it'll probably be a hundred bucks.see, you've already made 'lemonade'!
One thing I gleaned from Danny's interior video, looks like the white accents are on all levels? The Toyota rep said nothing to the contrary, just what you mentioned about the stick-on accessory.
doesn't the new table show them on the upper 3 models only? there are too many threads here, i can't find anything quickly.
