Rain-sensing wipers, as on a few other vehicles in this price range. Especially with having variable intermittents, I seem to spend all my time adjusting the rate.

A map light that doesn't spill light all over the driver, too. My old Peugeot had a nice tight beam, just right to illuminate an atlas on the passenger's lap and no further. The Prius map light is, frankly, rubbish - not much better than the general cabin light in this respect.

Turn off the stereo backlighting (apart from its PWR button) when the audio is turned off. In fact, a proper "night mode" would be great, where nearly all the dash illumination is turned off (apart from the night mode button itself, to turn everything back on). This is a feature I've seen on a friend's more expensive Saab, but I don't think this can cost a lot in itself - it's more a matter of attention to detail on the pricey cars.

Option to add a DAB tuner. And an ordinary standard line-in so I don't have to play MP3s through a crappy cassette adaptor.

A clock that's tied to the MFD and updates itself via RDS, GPS, or the Rugby (and equivalent foreign) radio signal, like my watch and most of my other clocks. It should support DST changes, too.

Ability to reduce traction control (whilst still protecting the motors) for driving on snow. Though I've not been out in the snow much yet.

Use of EV button above 30mph - to mean "prefer electric" rather than "electric only". This would be handy when approaching a big downhill, and wanting to create headroom to store the regenerated power. As it is, you either have to approach very slowly on electric or accept that you'll lose out, using engine compression to dissipate the energy wastefully.

No skunks in Illinois? Or are they just smarter than the VT skunks and don't get squashed on the road? If I see a black and white lump ahead, I'm on that wheel mounted recirc right NOW!

There are plenty here, I can tell you. However, rather than being squashed on the road, the smarter ones typically get elected to public office.

front lever on side of seat, keep pushing it down in a pumping action to lower the seat, or keep pulling it up to raise the seat.

The Prius models sold in the United States and Canada are not equipped with that lever.

yes, so I gather, or an ev mode button, among other things. But then you have some features that we don't. I guess the car gods decide what each culture will value the most. do not know why they cant give everyone everything.

Oh ... and something from the old days ... a "wing" window. It let in just the right amount of breeze. I don't know why they stopped making them.
    [/quote]

and this car actually has the little wing windows - ya just can't open em!!!

Must be it doesn't get real cold in (your part of) Oz. If it is cold enough to want a remote starter (and be willing to pollute while going nowhere), it is too cold to go out without putting on all your outerwear. So you get all trussed up, go out and start the car, come back in and strip off the outerwear, do your 'x minutes' thing, then put it all back on. Just not worth the time.

I had one on my Odyssey. It was great for those days when you knew it was going to be freeze your butt off cold or the windshield would be iced over. I would set the climate control (all manual) to defrost and the fan on high. I would start it and let it run while I put on my wind pants, boots, coat and gloves. If there was snow on the car, I would clean it off and scrape the window last. At the very least, it was a LOT easier to get the ice off even with only 5 minutes of warm up.

I'd agree with that and I'd like brighter steering wheel lighting and/or steering wheel lights connected to the panel dimmer switch. Better interior lighting in general. At night, I feel like I'm in the back of a dimly lit room with a small television set off to one side.

Don't know if these have been mentioned before, but I had them in my old car and I miss them...

-Windows that stay "active" after you power the car off until you open the door. The way the windows are now, they'll stay powered long enough for you to tell the gas attendant what you need, but will power down when he comes to give you your card or take your cash.*

-A radio that works when the car is off. Not necessarily in ACC mode, but off. My old car, if I pressed and held the radio button, it would come on. When I turned it off, it was off. No key necessary. Was a nice feature to have.

-More soft touch material in the interior! The dashboard is like a vista of hard plastic.

    * We have full service only in NJ.
