thanks for posting, i took the wheel covers off today after my Prime got its first wash as part of the 5k service yesterday, will look at this for a few days and decide which looks better for me, and if the covers remain off, i shall get these center caps

I see what you did there. You went to his house in the night, stole his stock wheels and gifted him nicer aftermarket rims. Did you upgrade his tires also?

Guilty as charged, except: they're not aftermarket: OEM rims on the previous PIP. No covers.

Does removing the hubcaps reduce MPG?

Pretty sharp. What size is the tire? It appears to somewhat low-profile. Is the outside circumference (ie, the diameter) of the tire the same as the OEM 15" tire. Does it affect your speedometer reading? Does your tire contact the road in the same place or is there some offset.

Washed the car today and removed the plastic hubcaps. I was pleasantly surprised to note the chrome plated lug nuts. Assumed since they can't be seen that they would just be steel and something else to replace. Also surprised how much brake dust was on the wheels. I guess on cars with aluminum wheels it normally gets blown away, but these hub caps retain it. If there is this much in less than a thousand miles, imagine how much there would be with 50K miles. Thought I might be able to use the center cap on the hub cap, but it is about a half inch too big. One thought: If and when I curb the wheels, just put the hub caps back on and all is well ;).

It is the same alloy wheel than in 4th gen prius i.e. 225/45 and 17 inch..No significant effect to speedometer..OEM Nanoenergy tyres are quite noisy in our rough tarmac and these are much better..for the comsumption they propably have same effect than in 4th gen Prius i.e. 2 mpg..

Agree with all the above, except just for the sake of accuracy: the size is 215/45R17.

I just purchased a Prius Prime Advanced on Monday and I know that the parts department says there is no wheel cap listed for the Prime. However the same wheel is sometimes used elsewhere and the Toyota part number for the cap that works is 42603-52170 which is black and chrome plastic and Toyota charges $97.00 plus local taxes for four caps. I know it fits cause we put one in a few hours ago. Some web sites list 42603- 52110 or 52130 as compatible however they only fit 1st gen plugin not the 2nd gen Prius Prime

I just ordered a set last weekend from a Toyota dealer in Cupertino, CA who sells on Amazon. $77.72 including shipping and no sales tax. Should be here by the end of the week. Now the next decision is do I plasticoat them black, dark gray, or bronze or leave them alone.

Stock is nice. You mean plastic-dip, ie: something reversible?

Yes. Have never done it before, but googled it and looked at a few videos and it looks pretty simple. Also saw one where a person did his BMW wheels and then peeled it off a year later. If you apply a few coats (like 4 or 5), and you don't like it later, not a big thing to peel it off.

The short answer is yes, only slightly though, but I cannot really quantify it. It "costs" me ~ 1 mile EV range which for me is ~2.3%.

What I observed during my commute this week (I've described my commute in the post "My EV range story", usually I've had 2-4 miles of EV range left when arriving at work
Mon: EV range leaving 43.2, down to 1.5 ~ 3miles from work, switched to HV for a mile or so and arrived at work with 0.1 EV left.
    Tue: 43.3 departure, 5.0 arriving
    Wed: 43.5 departure, 1.8 arriving
    Thu: 43.6 departure, 1.3 arriving
Weather was consistent all week, the typical fog/overcast for Jun with temps mid/high 60s
I try to go the same speed, set DRCC to 67 on fwy
Tue I had to leave earlier than usual so hit more traffic, a bit slower but still no stop/go
For Mon running out of EV, I have no explanation.

    I keep monitoring ...
