Prius5: Washed. Waxed. Vacuumed. Added OEM All Weather Mats (anyone else have these? How long before the crude smell goes away) oh and finally found an LED bulb that fits my trunk......

PriusC: Buffed out all the water spots, installed center armrest - beat last weeks ECO score, added K&N drop in filter and filled up with petrol.... It's been a Prius filled day ;)

I have a set of OEM all weather mats I bought when I picked up my car last month.

Yesterday I wiped down my car with a 50% vinegar mixture to remove all the water spots that I got from my last car wash. Today I have to wax it, as the mixture supposedly removes the wax. I was unable to remove the spots just by waxing it but it was awesome how well the vinegar mixture worked.

Do your all weather mats have a crude smell to them when you got them? Has it gone away a month later?

I had that odd smell. It lasted about 3 days. But I have one if those scented trees that may have removed or masked the smell.

Perhaps they just need time to wear in... It's interfering with my new car smell lol

She went beep so I obeyed and filled her with fuel. 37.27 litres of 95 octane and that gave 4.0l/100km for that tank. (Trip computer was saying 3.7??). For that good behaviour i might wash her on the weekend.

Replaced the under engine cover and transition to bumper piece.

Mine were torn up from prior owner and was missing the oil flap:

    New shiny pieces in place.

Got my Blackstone labs report back. I wasn't sure what the mileage was on the oil that was in there but I can assume maybe 8000 or so. There was a Valvoline 0-20 syn sticker on the windshield from the prior owner that indicated a next oil change at 113,000 when I changed it at 111,000. I'm assuming this time that it was meant for a 10,000mi interval. I'm changing it again at 120,000 to get it back on schedule and that will be pretty close to another 8000mi sample. The second sample will be with the Toyota oil so the additives quantities will probably be different. (all the non metal elements in the bottom of that section.)
This sample looks really good. The few high non metal elements indicate quantities of wear and detergent additives, this particular oil formulation.
The flashpoint is low but not lower than considered normal. Doesn't seem to be from fuel dilution since fuel was only present in trace amounts, and is far lower than is allowable. This indicates the piston rings are seemingly sealing well. The low flashpoint might be a property of whatever oil was actually in there. Second sample with Toyota oil will be telling.

I'm pretty pleased with the condition of this now 112,000 mile engine and all my preventative maintenance is now done other than tires which will be changed out to Michelin AS at the next oil change if they make it the next 8000 miles.
