Drove to the store for some survival snacks before the snow hit. I was hoping for more snow though. :(

I started on my spare set of taillights so I can start painting them like my headlights. Took the lens apart with a Hot Soldering knife. NHW20_Prius_Custom_Tailights.jpg

I did that the other day in maintenance mode - the speed limiter is not removed in this mode either. Top out at 107mph..

I replaced both of my cracked fog lights and installed blue bulbs in them. aside from looking cool, I can see better than with the old, cloudy, cracked lights. I think I need to spring for some LED bulbs next.

    In the last 24 hours...

Got 56.1 imperial mpg on just over 3/4 of a tank, whi h Google tells me is 67.3 mpg in the states... Good?... It also just crossed over 146,000 miles.
Parked beside a Gen IV Prius in the same colour, 'cause for the craic :p. Though, I've never seen one in person. It looks really normal, like most new Hyundais or Asian cars on sale. I'd honestly prefer the Gen II given the more windows and visibility it has behind the passenger door.

But, there's something that's been bugging me and other Irish drivers here who brought their car to the NCT (vehicle road worthiness test, like the MOT). There are no emissions guidlines given by Toyota. Mainly because, emissions testing requires a low and a high idle. We know that's not doable without a tachometer, and due to the PSD it's physically not possible to do a high-idle test of 2000 rpm. The engine rpm peaks somewhere aroud 1700 rpm at rest.

Regen braking also skipps over the whole brake and brake balance tests.

    WP_20170206_00_03_15_Pro.jpg

It passed flawlessly and she's now road legal for another 2 years, but it doesn't feel right, you know. It's not telling me how the engine is really performing when it comes to its emissions. It's old after all. I would only know until I get a CEL regarding the emission system.

There's so many damn Zeros on this sheet!

Last Saturday I did some upgrades. One of my headlights had some serious condensation issues so I decided to replace both and use LED bulbs. I had to modify the boot/dust cover to make the fans fit. I also installed after market fog lights and used LED bulbs for those as well. There was some issues about getting the wires through the firewall so I finally decided to go through the air conditioning evaporator exit hose and than up behind the back of the center panel. The best part was since the bumper was off I put on trumpet hella horns. I've included some pictures as well 20170211_085111.jpg 20170211_085146_001.jpg

Also I did do a small interior modification, this past October to the center console arm rest. The original was stained and coming up on the edges. As I was trying to glue it back down I had an idea. I cut out a piece of my old seat cover and I glued that on. Now it matches my interior pretty good and it has a little bit of cushion

Now it just seem like I like to see myself post, but I finally finished off my project. The original switch from the fog light kit seemed way to big so my electrical engineer friend helped me install a different kind of switch which we later found out was faulty. The LED indicator on the switch itself was blowing out the fuse for the foglights. So I looked on the Internet for a switch to fit a Prius. I purchased an advertised OEM toyota fog light switch and a scion aftermarket with the same dimensions that is listed to fit a prius with "slight shaving" So I hacked apart the hole and barely fit the Toyota one in, looks like leftovers from 90s toyota but all things considered a decent fit after some work 20170213_153403.jpg 20170215_135533.jpg 20170220_231019.jpg 20170220_232401.jpg

Nice job with that! I had a really grungy console cover and it was peeling off too. The replacement part is $50 so you saved good dough!

Installed Rexing S500 dash cam yesterday. Put the rear camera under the rear window. I'm now able to see whose behind me more clearly.
