Nice job with location to mount!

Be careful with the local laws. Most law enforcement will ticket you if caught driving on public roads with those on. I got a warning once with my 32” light bar and almost didn’t pass the visual inspection when getting my registration tags. Ended up taking it off because I couldn’t use it that much. Loved the light output on the rual roads and empty highways when I was able to also use high beams.

I do deliveries for a Chinese restaurant at night so I only use them when needed and I have my hand near the switch, the mount is near the same height as the headlights so I think I will be ok with law enforcement. Thanks for the compliment for the location of the mount I was looking for a hassle free way and I've seen people do them behind the lower grill but I DID NOT want to take the bumper cover off, I miss my V chrome trim, but I'm pretty happy with the look. Wisconsin doesn't require any type of visual inspection for plate renewal so no worries there. Also the mounting brackets were staggered to make the lights face forward more so they don't seem to point to far to the sides it lights up all of the road in front of me

congrats! now get accessorizing and modding RFN! start by de-badging the tailgate and removing the ugly wheel trim rings. also, that ain't no touring, its got base wheels and spoiler on it.

Thanks! I see you are from VA as well.

Everyone on the forums are saying to debadge, but I'm afraid of scratching anything since my last car went through a bad time.

So far I'm getting the maintenance items out the way air filter, cabin and today I just cleaned the MAF & throttle body.

I'm looking for spark plugs & getting that transaxle fluid change too.

As far as the car trim goes, idk I was told touring since I got cruise control, back up camera and the touchscreen lol. Oh well I got a really good deal on it anyway.

Although lots of answers here I trust these forums much more then everywhere else!

Yeah, can ye tell us what's the difference between a Touring (which is the only option we have in the EU), and the softer US/JDM versions?

Front and rear stabilisers are different, springs and shocks are different, rims and tyre wall length...

My 2009 Gen II (Touring package) has 16" OEM alloy rims, deeper spoiler, HID headlamps, fog-lamps, stiffer suspension (I've never had a problem with the handling, so can't really comment since I've never driven a non-touring model). I'm here on left side of t'Pond (top right-hand corner of US of A). …er, that's it! hope this helps - Wil

The HID & Fogs aren't a determining factor though. Yes, All Tourings have them, but any base model that has one of the packages that include navigation also have HID & Fogs.

Doesn't help that some of the VINs when you run them mention touring, so dealers sell them as tourings when really they don't have the touring specific items (16 inch wheels, larger rear spoiler, suspension).

You can use the Toyota Owner's website & register the VIN. It will also show dealer service history on the car.

lol, but you have the touring, which all come with HID/Fog. :D

What I was saying is any Base model non-touring that has one of the packages with navigation, comes with HID/Fog, so you can't use the HID/Fog as a determining factor of having a touring. :)

about every add I see selling a gen2 claims its a touring, but most of em aren't. its just another way to try to make the car seem more valuable.

use dental floss to de-badge. it should work and won't damage the paint. best to do it during summer

Oh feck, I forgot to ask, how different is the driving characteristics like? I hear so much flack over how the Prius is the utter worst at handling, but it isn't all too easy to see here, where the Tourings I guess handle better than most ''normal cars'', except for the awful traction control.

Oddly, every G2 ad I see says it's base, when quite a few of them are Touring, or at least have the Touring wheels on them.

Fun fact: "Base" wasn't the actual base model, at least not in '08. There was what I call "super Base" which was a completely stripped out car (no rear speakers, no cruise, no rear wiper, etc) and no options could be added. I assume it was for fleet sale only and never available to the public.
