Be careful, in some areas, it is illegal to have blue or red lights on your vehicle if you are not driving a law enforcement or emergency vehicle.

This is something that I'm curious about.

    It's basically trickle, right?

I was thinking of doing something like this, but with an independent battery and run usb ports for charging...

Yes it does like a 4 step charging process and it also has two usb ports.

Depends on the sun light and when the fan turns on to cool the inside of the car but it does the job without overcharging.

It looks great, but you need some serious paint correction up front.

It's one of the weird things about PriusChat, we can never decide whether we're more worried about reanimating years-old threads or about everybody starting new ones so old info gets forgotten.

This solar-roof-to-aux-battery mod has seven years of PriusChat history now, and a number of people have done it, sometimes with quite detailed write-ups and performance reporting.

    Thats great right?
Good to see multiple people doing it and it working, even with different controllers too.

The way Solarpriusguy did it is the easiest way to do it, so if your gonna do it Ol' Chap then do it and get back to us with your own input.

I think I'm gonna do it Michael Cline's way, for reasons already discussed; I'll probably buy correct terminals from Toyota and interpose at the panel noise filter connection; I've just never liked IDC taps.

Still enjoying the ride ... Hopefully it holds up for another 7 years...

Oof it finally happened to dad’s Prius. Better to fix small chips then replacing the entire thing. But of course sometimes like this has to be OEM.

sorry to hear. My oem lasted only about a year. I couldn’t justify the oem $$$ so I went with the second best brand in my opinion, Pilkington Solar Windshield. It’s at least 6 years and doing well.

As Toyota doesn’t produce windshields and most cases it uses Pilkington windows, you have chosen the best - I think.
