I had the pleasant surprise of seeing stains on both front doors under the mirrors today... I have a special kind of hatred for manufacturers that uses that [insert curse words here] metal for injection molding. It always corrode and turns into white powder and ruins your paint, yet they keep using it. I wasn't having any of that, so I removed the mirrors, took them apart and cleaned them as much as I could before painting them, inluding a couple of baths in muriatic acid hoping it would get rid of the white crap. I was out of primer, so I used my matte green Krylon paint I have laying around. We'll see if last...

I would not have used muriatic (hydrochloric) acid without trying vinegar or some other mild solution first, but I'm glad that it worked out OK for you.

Well, it didn't really work anyway, I still had to do mostly manual labor. I had the acid already, so I gave it a shot and I was going to stop if I saw that it was eating that crappy metal away. The best option would be using something like soda blasting, but I don't have the gun or a compressor at home.

Nevermind, that's a Seibon diffuser with the middle fin torn off!

If anyone is interested in puchasing they're still available and retail for 4-500 dollars. Just search for part number RL1011TYPRS-MB :)

Hardwired my dash cam finally and installed an oem auto dimming read view mirror with homelink.

I bought all the fluids to change them all out on my almost 65k Prius

One of these days I'll do oil change. A little After that I'll do transmission fluid, coolants. Probably do brake fluid with my oil change.

65K miles and no oil changes yet? In your shoes, I'd pick a day next week.

What? I usually do oil changes every 5k miles despite the Toyota 10k recommended interval. I however haven't changed any of the other fluids. They honestly look all brand new but will be changing it all out regardless

The clamp for my hood stand broke, and instead of replacing that, I figured that I might as well upgrade!

Installed the Sokie Tech Hood Dampers, super easy install.

No pictures because the car is quite filthy and I'm embarrassed lol

    +5mpg for posting

I installed mine last weekend! I only put in one side, did you do both? One side alone holds the hood all the way open so I didn't see much reason to install both.
