What did you do to ur Gen III Prius today????

    @m.wynn nudged me to 0w-40:whistle:.

    I didn’t really notice the engine before, but I was running redline 5w-30, so it surprising ;).

    I consume a quart every 5k miles so spending $20 more per oil change (and feeding our Prius in between) on red line was something I discontinued in favor of 0w-40:).

    But 0w-40 works for me(y).

    Keep a close eye on consumption, you may find it improves with this new oil since it remains thicker at high temperatures. If you notice a change (or don't notice one) keep us informed. I'm at 115k and burning nothing but worried for when that time comes.

    I check the level every Saturday along with the oil catch can ;).

    No need to worry about oil consumption if you check frequently and top up as needed:).

    Awareness avoids future headaches(y).

    For the right reason though:).

    Toyota recommends different oil weights for the Prius for different countries. This is based on things like emissions, laws and environment. The 0w-20 weight here in the US is incredibly thin, especially for higher temperature areas.

    But getting that Prime itch again:oops:.

    lol, this has legit happened to me... lol, someone asked me why it said "710" on their oil cap... They were pretty amazed when i turned it around and it said "oil" lol.
