I was thinking about replacing the 12v battery soon. I noticed that sometimes the battery booster, whirring motor sound when the driver's door is opened, was kind of weak sounding, definitely not as vigorous.

Maybe if you pay close attention to the sound of the brake booster motor, you can get a better feel of when to replace the battery? I first noticed the weak sounding motor about a month ago, but then it would sound OK, or maybe I started to get used to it a little. ;) I mistakenly thought there would be other tell tale signs, like the SKS system not detecting the key fob, etc.

If I replaced it when I first noticed the weak sounding brake booster motor, I would have avoided all the hassle.

Replacing it at three years seems too soon, unless you know it's been stressed previously, like forgot a light on and discharged the battery, etc.

My used Custom Built BC Racing Coilovers for 2010-2015 Prius. 32 way adjustable dampening on all 4 corners. Minimum height drop is 1" from factory. I can dial rears all the way down and the front has some room to go down lower. According to BC Racing I believe Allan (Fatdawg) and I are the only ones with Gen III Custom BC coilovers. I paid $1,050 shipped and waited 2-3 weeks for them after being built.

I've had them on for a year. Thinking of going back to stock height since I'm doing food delivery and Rideshare on the side these days. Let me know and we can talk! Thanks!

(This is what they looked like new when I got them. Of course they won't look as new, but if they are sold, I'll clean them up lol)

Update: I had to use the mechanical key when I returned to the car after dinner last night. No SKS, no interior lights, no power door unlocking, etc. Good thing I put the new battery and jumper cables in the passenger compartment. Jumped it no problem from under the hood and returned home.

Today, I had interior lights and was able to open the hatch from the outside. Replaced the battery, no problems whatsoever.

I measured the Optima yellow top before installing it, it read 12.6v.

Interesting, I measured the old battery after removing it, and it too read 12.6v. I guess there are no dead cells, just diminished capacity to provide current under load. I'll keep the old battery around the garage as a project battery and to test bulbs, and relays, etc. since I didn't have a core charge for the new battery.

Just over 12k. But it has been extremely hot. And twice, I have left my car on. Once in the driveway for only 4 hours and then another time at work for nearly 8. Took me awhile to get used to keyless entry and remember that the car is a computer that needs to be turned off.

I have left my car on twice, plus it has been hot. It's just that for me, its better to be too early, than too late when it comes to batteries.

I was kidding about parting out ;) I'll be staying in the Prius scene for a long while. Also I would like to thank my buddy @Ramtart for lending me his wheels for the meantime. The SSRs will be off to a new owner tomorrow morning. Stay tuned for my next set up coming in a couple of weeks.

For those who are interested in @Ramtart's wheels, go check out his thread in the sales section!!

As you guys probably know by now... @sd180, @Johnsk93 and I were all kidding when we said we were going to do a part out.

We were just following the trend #partout because #secretstuff was dead... Lol

Anyway, I'll be in the Prius scene for a while. I love my Prius and I have no desire of replacing it. I will keep my Prius for a very long time.

I love my Prius too! However when I found out I can make money with it doing side jobs aside from my FT job, I figured what the heck!

So now I'm making extra money with it instead of spending money on it (well not as much as I used to lol). Love my car and I still love you guys too haha.

Washed and cleaned the car, oil change with Mobil 1 0W-30 (trying this grade as it may benefit with oil use as it gets older) and installed a new Toyota 12 Volt, as the original one is 6 years old.

I am so glad you all were joking around. You guys are setting a trend. Once the Prius started looking more "sporty", I am glad it has appealed to the younger crowd. Heck, if it wasn't for Priuschat and you guys, I never would have even dreamed of doing anything to the car. But once I saw how easy most of the modding is, I decided to join in. See, it is because of the cool photos, the funny banter and the brotherhood (least we forget Bill the engineer!) that I really feel like I belong to a special group. It's not just the car, its the community.............then the car!!

    Bastards!

I bit. Hook, line & sinker.

No time for the car these last 2 weekends; my daughter got married and the last 10 days have been non-stop wedding fun. And work. Lots of work, but it's all good.

In a few days my wife is going to see her sister in Memphis; I'll be a bachelor with time on my hands for installing the new parts that are waiting on the bench.
