    It's best used to lower weight for applications where the prize money/prestige outweighs the cost of carbon fibre. Racing vehicles don't expect to look good beyond a few photo shoots after the race. And most of them get wrecked way before they get any kind of UV damage.

    Whether it's practical on a Prius depends on the application and what the owner likes to do.


    I tend to err on the side of owner preference. As long as it's safe, do whatever you like so you can enjoy your car. Regardless of what you do, you're still getting better fuel economy than 99.9% of the vehicles on the road.

    We should be encouraging more people to drive Prii, and most drivers will be fine with the stock car. But a few will have to season the car to their own individual taste. Let's face it. These people tend to drive gas guzzlers.

    I'm one of them. My other car gets 10 gallons per mile. Yep, it uses 2-3 gallons per 1/4 mile pass (supercharged V8). The more we can get people like me into a Prius the better.

    Interested in this as well.

    Thinking of just doing HIDs, but the LEDs intrigue me.

    Also curious about the RetrofitSource kit.
    Can't post the link, but it is easy enough to find.
    Anyone tried this?

    the previous pics are nice...love to see how the lights perform...i.e.shown against a wall to see the cutoff., the retrofit replaces the stock projectors imho are just ok...still fuzzy on the edges and focal length is subpar..compare to the retrofit..

    still waiting on my custom spacers to arrive. but been keeping busy. tried Chameleon plasti-dip on the DRLs and immediately regretted it. Even did the Scion center caps and emblems.

    peeled them all off and did DRLs black, center caps metallic gloss (best I could do to match FRS OEMs), and did the emblems like how they were before. Black in the back and dark blue in the front.

    Mendel, just revisiting your thread since I will be installing Coilovers. Where is the safe central jacking point in the front Of the car? I don't want to start jacking the car in the front on the engine cover lol. Thanks for your help

    dont worry, it crossed my mind for sure. Was even going to plasti dip the FRS wheels completely black. But they're nice as they are. As a wise man once said, "dont mess with it if it looks good". :D

    plus I try to curb my green obsession a bit so its subtle, yet creates enough accents all around.


    edit: I googled "plasti-dip frs wheels". I'm glad I chose not to. They do look nice, but the design is nice as it is. They kinda remind me of the Five Axis spoke pattern when dipped...

    What I don't care for on the rear jacking point is that it is off-centered, the rear end lifts at an angle. You have to place a jackstand under the lower side first, then lower the car to place the jackstand under the high side separately on the other side.

    I've never had problems with the proscribed rear jacking point. Agree it's a little asymmetrical, but doesn't seem to matter. When I raise the rear and then put in jackstands there's maybe a half inch less clearance on drivers side, doesn't matter, you just make sure your jackstands are up the same number of notches.

    The centre jacking point is off-balanced in just about every single car I've seen.

    Even on my 240SX where the prescribed jacking point is anywhere on the front subframe or rear diff, putting the jack at the center still leads to off-balance jackstand placement. I think the weight distribution has to be accounted when choosing where to jack up.

    There are no relays. The factory wiring is actually just 1 plug. The OEM taillight just spreads it into multiple sockets.

    Just did this tonight!

    It took me about an hour from start to finished, It took longer to remove the OEM air box, the cold air intake straight forward just drop in and tighten, 1 thing INJEN did not mention is the MAF sensor wire is not long enough, you have to cut 1 factory cable tie loosen the harness in order to get extra slack to plug in the MAF sensor connector, I also cleaned the MAF sensor prior install it to the short ram tube.

    I test drove it and it seems less effort to get up to fast speed, the engine didn't sound so struggle anymore. Also my Tanabe Medallion cat back exhaust roar at higher rpm, I read on their website...this whole short ram setup is NOT legal in California. Just FYI.

    I like the black finished because it blend in well with the engine compartment. I ordered on 6/8 from Amazon, got it today...dang it is fast shipping.

    *************UPDATE***************** 6/12/2015
    The cold air intake works super nice, I just checked within a day it suck lots of dirt/dust at the cone filter, also MPG dropped by 3mpg+, the ride is so fluidity and lots of rolling effect. I will keep it til my renewal that require smog inspection.

    So, if anyone's Prius is relatively NEW like 1 year+ plus, then you can enjoy the next 5 years with the cold air intake, now the Hybrid vehicle required smog start 4/2015. California Smog require base on the day of purchase then add 6 years before the biannual smog inspection start. If it's a 2nd owner then only 4 years base on the 1st purchased date.

    Hope this help y'all, the place I bought it would accept return with 50% restocking fee +return shopping, what is ripped off store.

    NICE! I always wondered if the Prius had such points. It would make certain maintenance tasks faster than working two scissor jacks.

    These jacking point pics are from the owners manual, pretty straightforward. It's typical, well at least with any import we've had, that there's front and back jacking points.
