I opted not to buy a complete retrofit package because I thought I could save a few bucks by buying the parts piecemeal. However, I've discovered since then that some of the parts are very hard to find on a one by one basis.

Just the G's bumper cover alone was around $400 plus $714 for shipping.

    Dylan,
I really like it so far.
    1) I don't really care too much about FM reception, it seems to be working fine for me so far. These days music played on FM radio is not my style. I like listening to my own MP3s.
    2) I'll have to test the Navigation/MP3 playback issue sometime. :D
    3) If my eyes are too strained at night, I'll press the TFT button to blackout the screen until I need it.
But I do think all your negative impressions are valid. (y)

The huge 8" touchscreen is far better than the OEM 6'' or the JBL 7"
This was the deciding factor for me.

I plan to get the screen shade soon. The only negative thing I have to say so far is the glare sucks at times, but I'm dealing with it.

Hey man, I was the one who left a note on your windshield yesterday and told you to check out this forum. It's nice to see that the Prius Norcal community is growing. (y)

You guys have done some nice work here, and suddenly I realized there is a bunch of stuffs available for Gen III: aimgain-30PRIUS HYBRID typeI

The Sweeeet Carbon fiber rearview mirror with turn signals and the nice stereo/nav upgrade, Just Awesome!

I am back to burning CDs again for this 2011 Prius II with Prius Five wheels because I can not play mp3 from usb flashdrive. 2011 Prius L | PriusChat

If you guys don't mind sharing a direct link to order the stereo and does installation involve splitting wires?

In the meantime, I'll be looking around for "DIY" videos for the stereo and mirror! :)

    Thanks!

No wire splitting! All plug and play to factory harness. You can also request to add things to your order such as a Reverse Camera, etc. They warn you if you have JBL edition you need to order a separate adapter to make it work.

I messaged you a link to it. Good luck.

I made the MLV/CCF sound barrier for left rear door today.

I followed the same process as with the front doors: made a paper template to roughly cut the MLV material, gorilla taped the MLV to the door and fine tuned some of the cuts, and then did the same by laying the MLV piece on the door panel. The rear door was a little easier than the fronts. I should be able to knock out the passenger side in about 2 hours tomorrow.

The rear door panels have two foam blocks that stick out.
Those blocks match up to the holes in the inner door sheet metal and I did not want to cut the MLV to make space for them. So, I again taped the MLV in place on the door and used a heat gun to warm up the MLV and sort of shape it by pushing the vinyl into the holes and let it cool. Then, immediately before pressing the door panel on, I again heated those spots, clipped the door panel on and let it all cool for a while before taking it apart to add the thermolite and a some velcro.

This pic shows the offending foam blocks on the door panel.

The MLV in place right after I applied a couple velcro pieces to hold it in place while putting the door panel on.

I never liked the way the inverter cover slightly raised the radiator cover... :cautious:

I found a Curt 1 1/4 trailer hitch on CL for $50 that was in perfect condition so I took about 30 minutes and threw it on tonight. Can't wait to try out my Thule hitch mounted bike rack. It has both the 2" and 1 1/4" connectors so I can share it between my Subaru Outback and the Prius so I'm pretty excited about that.

Sorry, I found it used on a local Craigs List listing in Raleigh. They're going for about $120 on Amazon and eTrailer.

I finished the passenger side rear door's MLV/CCF sound barrier and it's Miller Time, errr Newcastle time.
    For anyone who is curious:
Front door MLV panels weigh 4.5 lbs each
Rear doors are 4.25 lbs each

I'm starting to feel so invested in this car that I don't want anyone else touching it anymore.
