I ordered some weatherstripping from eBay and stuck it on the doors to make them like some of the luxury cars out there. It does make the interior just a tad quieter but then again it could be just a placebo effect.

Same here bro. I overspend this month of all my mods. I'm thinking of just wrapping my hood with carbon fiber vinyl.

Last night and today, I made the MLV and CCF sound barrier panel for the driver's door.

I first made a template with some heavy paper. Mocking up the template on the door... easy peasy. Cutting the MLV per the template and its initial fitting it to the door... easy peasy squared. Things were going along much quicker than I thought, and I was ready to test fit with the door panel itself.

This is where the sinister nature the heavy and inflexible MLV reared its ugly head. It probably took me a dozen attempts to finally get the door panel to clip into the door correctly... bolt and gorilla tape the MLV to the door, test fit the door panel, noodle why a particular panel clip isn't clipping, remove the panel and the MLV, tweak the MLV and repeat
    and repeat
    and repeat
    and repeat...

Little things like bolt heads, thick wire harnesses and connectors all had to be accomodated by carefully cutting away as little MLV as possible. A couple of times it really had me confounded and I resorted to just leaving the big MLV panel on the floor and gorilla taping pieces of MLV to suspect locations on the inner door sheet metal and trying to press the door panel on until I could isolate the offending area of the door/door-panel. Working with MLV is like working with metal or wood - measure twice-cut once or risk throwing an expensive piece of raw material in the junk pile.

While on the freeway to LA this afternoon, I tried to drive next to some big SUVs and could barely hear their tire noise. So yeah, it does seem more quiet than the Frost King that it replaced.

For anyone who is contemplating sound deadening/proofing their Prii, I really recommend a thorough read of Don Sambrook's sound deadener showdown site and if you are new to working with MLV (like I am), double the time estimates you made up.

Only took a couple porn photos (and no money shot) as I was in a time crunch due to an appointment.
Paper template ready to cut into MLV - time it took to remove door panel and make the template... maybe 1 hour

MLV on the door - maybe another 30 minutes to cut the MLV, poke holes in all the right places and clamp it to the door for test fit #1.
Took another 3 or 4 hours to fine tune the MLV so the door panel would finally snap in like it's supposed to.

LOL, it's an obsession, but then I've been driving luxury cars daily for the past 10 years. I also used to race cars and built rock crawler jeeps so putting all this effort into something that doesn't make a car go faster or handle better is a new one to me.

I finally replaced the bolt I dropped the other day when putting in my new horns, and the horns still work great!

I swapped out my license plate lights with some VLEDs, but getting the bulb housing out was a pain, I ended up using a pair of pliers to finally pull the housing out. But they look so much brighter now :) Now everyone can see how dirty my poor car is at night too.

I also swapped the license plate lights on my 2012 Prius v, much easier to pull the bulb housing out on the v. Though I was surprised to find scorch marks on the bottom edge of both bulb housings. The bulbs themselves look fine, and no other marks besides on the bulb housing. I used to just turn on my lights all the time since the v doesn't have daytime running lights. I'm thinking that might be the cause. Though I was under the impression that having the lights on any time would only potentially shorten the life of the bulbs, not this.

After 2 weeks of auto folding mirror installed I didn't see this not until tonight. I was just focused on the folding feature but not on the 3 in 1 led combo. image.jpg

I spent way too much more time than I expected to do this project.

    Plastidipped my wheels.

    Looks pretty good!!

While waiting for the paint to dry, I replaced the license plate light housing with full LED housings. Thanks @Accordlayingkit for your help describing how to the the rear hatch exterior panel off.
