Medium smoked tail lights



Next I will be blacking out the headlights

 

Nice. I also just smoked out my taillights. Really light at about 50%.

I am not smoking out the headights but I did put on the protective clear film because I drive so much on the freeway. Paranoia after I had to replace my windshield when a rock hit and cracked it.

 

Thanks man just trying it on. Need to buy stud bolts to make it flush.

 

Nice! Post a picture I totally agree with you. Especially having to frequently drive on harsh roads, it scares me a bit too hehe. I am not planning to smoke my headlights, but I'm looking to paint the inner chrome black.

 

The prius mod community in northern california is definitely growing, especially in the bay area. There is probably enough of us here to meet up.

 

As requested 50% smoked tail lights.

I wanted something a little different. I did not want to go too dark with the Blizzard pearl and did not want to deal with a fix a ticket.

 

Thanks guys getting wheels next week! On a side note love the tinted tails, what do you guys recommend?

Wow looks great! 50% Blends in quite nice with the blizzard pearl. I had two choices at Mr Tints, it was either dark smoke like what I got or 50%.

Get a darker smoke since your car is black. I think it blends in better with darker colored car. And yeah that's exactly what I want to do next with my headlights

 

That's crazy! I got mine done at Mr Tint in San jose off of keily.

 

Thanks, I'm seeing 3m is that who you used? I may go a little darker but we will see, the tails on the Prius are too iced out for my taste lol!

I got the dark smoke, but I forgot what the percentage was. I agree that the tails on the Prius are too icy haha, but you should definitely try to go with a darker smoke. It'll look much better on a black Prius Did you black out your headlights on your own?

Yeah I dealt with Terry. Nice guy, and they have excellent customer service! I used to go to the same high school with one of the workers there lol, and the owner Daniel also owns a 3rd gen black Prius.

 

Agree, shorter studs should be substituted in place of the oem studs so that they don't protrude.

 

I have never even considered tinted tails, but seeing that persona with the 50% looks really classy! I like it a lot.

How is the tinting done? Inside, outside? What's are folks paying for the service. Thx.

 

the film they use is a type of film but made for exterior use specifically for the smoke lights.

It's an exterior application but they install it so it wraps the entire light assembly. The only way you can see the edges of the film is if you have your trunk open and you look really closely at the very edge of your light assembly.

Install will run you at least $150 . It's difficult beacuse of all the curves on the light and getting it on there smooth without any bubbles or creases.

 

Thanks for the info. I'll be calling my tint shop Tomm and seeing if they can do this.

Unless he has space behind his wheel pockets for the studs to not hit the wheels. If not, I suggest you cut those studs!
