Surprised to see my delivery from Japan on my doorstep when I got home. Couldn't wait to do some mods!

Part # 08475-47030 - Rear bumper step guard, Carmate blind spot mirrors, Part #08471-00050-C0 - Rear multi-box.

Got the JDM clean box (part # 08480-47050-C0), but didn't have time to install.

Recycled my polk standing speaker which i bought few years ago for my prius speakers. Zero cost = great sound system. Who needs a sub with these speakers? I have 2 lift so will be installing for the front soon. image.jpg image.jpg

Good luck, car audio speakers are designed to withstand heat, humidity, and vibration, which home systems don't usually encounter. Also, there may be impedance differences between home and car speakers.

yes, be careful. most home speakers are 8 ohm I believe...and car speakers are 4 ohm. I'm not sure what this would do to the speaker in the long run. perhaps burn it out? But interesting to see how those polk speakers would sound in the prius !

Probably won't hurt the speaker, now the amp may be another issue.

when we were wiring up the mirrors and had the door panels off I noticed the jbl's were riveted in! Why in the world would they do that? How do u even switch them if u ever wanted to.. drill the rivet out? Then how do u re install some others?

Ideally, you gotta drill out the rivets and either fabricate a new speaker mounting plate, or a pre-manufactured one if you are doing a speaker swap.

Beats the heck out of me why Toyota did this. My old 89 Honda civic was a breeze to swap out the speakers.

Increasing the speaker resistance from 4 to 8 ohm should result in less of a load to the amplifier drawing half the current.

Actually it is impedance , not resistance. Whole different ball game there.

Get to test my own strength tomorrow on the interior light covers during a changeover to LED's.

    IMG_4335.JPG

Beginning a pool as to how many covers I crack and/or break during the process.

The real fun begins on Friday, with a scheduled delivery of a fog light system, to begin my Faux Five Project.
...and another pool for the number of broken clips when removing the front bumper cover.

First success, map light LED's installed in less than a minute without cracking or breaking the covers.

...except for the minor burn irritation from grabbing a HOT bulb with bare fingers. o_O

    IMG_4336.JPG IMG_4337.JPG IMG_4338.JPG

Impressed with the amount of light emitted from the LED's.

Got my front license plate mounted finally. Used a eBay tow hook disassembled, sheet metal from Home Depot and a nylon spacer. Cut the spacer at an angle so the plate would line up with the shape of the bumper and bent the metal in a way that I could attach the license plate to the tow hook. Cost maybe a total of $25 vs some of the $50-80 retail versions. $15 tow hook, $6 sheet metal, $1 nylon spacer, $5 black paint and a handful of nuts and bolts.

Had my Toyota dealer disable the Semi Truck Backup Simulator(reverse beeps) and change the setting to a single beep when placing the car into reverse. According to the service manager you can not completely disable this feature on a 2014.

Time to get back to the interior LED conversion and more burned fingers.... :D

Success!! Vanity LED's installed and not another burned finger or cracked/broken cover.

I bought some high quality (supposedly!) PIAA bulbs to replace my DRL high beam bulbs. These are yellow; so rumoured to be better for fog / inclement weather. I highly doubt it although IMO, it makes the car look a little different than every other car out there :). When spring and summer time rolls around, I will change back to OEM bulbs.

The last time I purchased aftermarket "colored" bulbs for the car was over 10 years ago when I had my 89 civic. Right after the install, I turned on the headlights only to find that one had immediately exploded in the lens, ruining their reflective design (I made absolutely sure that there was no fingerprints on them before installing!). So this time, I went with a higher priced, higher quality product. No guarantees these won't blow but they are made in Japan. I was weary about buying the Nokya ones which are 4x cheaper.

Now there is just one more mod to do on the Prius before I call it quits... :)

sfv41901: LOL...nothing practical left to mod. Home mortgage now needs a boost. Perhaps after my home has been paid off, I will start the modding again :)
