Traded my 2006 Ford Expedition with 140,000 miles for a brand new 2013 Prius II. I must say im happy that I dont have to swipe my credit card twice just to fill up now. SCH-I605 ? 2
Replaced a 2009 Honda Civic EX coupe I had owned for almost a year. Due to domestic issues, I had to start driving a couple people around weekly and the two doors meant that the Civic was impractical. My Civic had zero problems, had a better subwoofer, got around 32 MPG combined, and I thought I would be driving it for 15 years or something (a confidence that has expired in my Prius). Got the Prius for its practicality, 50 MPG (without hypermiling!), and all of the great technology you just can't find in a Corolla or Sentra. The car payment went up $80 from $0 and I'm only saving $60-65 on gas per month, but this Prius is like a Lexus compared to that Civic. If the Prius didn't exist, you'd find me in a Yaris sedan. That scares me a bit.
04 Hyundai Sonata. Car was totalled, insurance cashed me out. I LOVE my Prius. Improvments over my Sonata include- Automatic Transmission (VS Manual), Working A/C, working Radio, More Storage, More than twice the fuel economy, and so much more. 40K more miles then the sanata, but it will last longer than the sanata would.
2000 Mazda 626 ES-V6. Bought new in 2000 and had 135000 miles. Overall good car, but only got 24 mpg and it was getting expensive to maintain as issues with car were comming up every few months to the point I no longer trusted it. Replaced it with a new 2013 Prius four with solar package and averaging 53 mpg over 2700ish miles with no hypermiling. SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 ? 2
2004 Toyota Matrix XR. I loved that car... but it was a manual transmission & I live in San Diego! ugh! Too much traffic. The Prius is so much nicer (though i Like the look of the Matrix a little more) & nearly doubles the gas mileage!
I had a 93 Camry that died on the Ike back in 07. Since I live in Chicago, I don't really need a car, but lately I've had some major wanderlust. I was originally looking for a hatchback with manual transmission (if you're going to drive it might as well be fun!), but the techy and environmentally-friendly Prius won my heart! We went on our first camping trip, and I could not be happier. Love this car.
Back in 2007, I was a proud owner of a new Prius - a couple years later I sold it for a Dodge Ram that I needed. I then sold the truck to my father and bought my older brother's 2003 BMW 530i. That BMW was very nice but maintenance was putting a hole in my pocket. I then found a beautifully kept 2007 Prius pkg 5 - sold the BMW - bought the Prius cash - and am proud once again.
I replaced my GMC Envoy 4wd with my 2007 Prius last September. Just like many of you here, I went from 15mpg to 45mpg+. There are times I wish I still had the "utility" of the Envoy, like when I need to pick up firewood with our utility trailer or need to move the boat trailer around the yard so I can cut the grass underneath it, etc... but I've got friends with trucks that let me borrow them. The Prius, with snow tires, is great in the Michigan winter. I cant believe I waited so long to go Prius!! lol
