try about 6.5 stock for the pre-96 manual cars(the manual cars were a but quicker than the autos. but they are FWD so better from a roll than a dig. it had about everything that you could bolt on, short of forced induction, 3.2L swap from an Auto car, performance Y pipe and exhaust, larger MAF, upgraded suspension, anti sway bars, some cosmetics(fiberglass (lighter) cowl hood), bigger brakes, rims, basically you name it, my SHO had it, my mod list was about 2 pages long. all in all it added up to a fun, fast car (albeit FWD) but got to be too expensive to run.
Our Prius replaces a 2000 Ford Taurus wagon. We've loved the Taurus for years for its comfort and carrying capacity, but it was approaching 95,000 miles and starting to show its age. Plus, at 16 mpg around town, the fuel cost was far from stellar. The Prius joins a 2002 Saturn SE, which is small, reliable and moderately fuel efficient, but not nearly as comfortable as the Prius. We know gas prices will start going up again, and while we don't consider ourselves tree huggers, we felt the Prius was a good investment for the environment as well as for ourselves. 09 Prius replaced a 1988, yes 88, Chevy C1500 Silverado Pick up. I got my money's worth from the old truck! 20 + years strong.
My 2009 Prius replaced a 2008 Smart ForTwo. Aside from the price difference, I am very happy with the switch.
I replaced a 2005 PT Cruiser Convertable. Never had a convertable as a kid and that was on my "Bucket List". Had my 2009 for 2 months now and kick myself every day for not doing it sooner.
1991 Mercedez 300TE Wagon. At 221,xxx miles, it's about time to retire the ol' horse, especially since it needs $5000 + in transmission and motor repairs! Haw!
My Prius (liking the sound of that...) has just replaced my 1998 Chevy Malibu. It has 173k miles (runs great), no power anything, although the best option that I haven't seen in many cars is the automatic headlight sensor. I haven't turned on my headlights more than three times in 9 years. Needless to say, this evening out with the Prius, I was flashed due to not having my headlights on. My bad! On another subject and I hope I don't get banned for it...my Malibu is on NH Craigslist here: 1998 Malibu, runs perfect, lots of extras, fab first car or a spare! Half the proceeds WILL go to the local animal shelter in Dover, NH. They had their funding cut last month so they're in need of help.
It will be replacing a 2007 Pontiac G6 GTP, which averaged 17 to 19mpg in stop and go traffic and 28mpg highway. 30 to 60 per fillup depending on the price of gas. Had to stop the bleeding.
All the gear from my 2001 Subaru Forester fits in my 2009 Prius. The Forester goes to my daughter who lives on the 49th parallel and need AWD more than MS does.
"Eleanor" replaced a 2005 Ford Focus....I had always been a "blue oval chick" my whole life. What a radical move for me!! Anyway, I love her and wouldn't trade her for anything.....
My Prius replaced a 1999 Subaru Forester that had over 120,000 miles on it. When we first started looking for a replacement my wife wasn't too thrilled about a Prius due to its smaller cargo area. Once she actually saw a Gen III and drove it she was won over and the order went in.
Replaced a 2006 Corolla with 108k miles on it. I put a lot of miles on a car and while I was getting about 40mpg on the Corolla, its advanced miles seemed to take a toll... the last 10k miles I got only about 32mpg. The gas savings at 64mpg are easily covering the difference in payments between an '09 Corolla and a '10 Prius.
Our first Prius (a 2009 base package 6) replaced a 1998 Sienna XLE. The Sienna had the most comfortable front seats ever. It was a workhorse and as reliable as a stone axe. I towed our dirt bikes (on a motorcycle trailer) all over the Rockies and never had a problem keeping up, even on the highest mountain passes. After 100k miles it didn't use a drop of oil and still got the same fuel mileage as new. Anywho, my wife liked that Prius so much she adopted it as her own. She sold her Lexus RX350 to my sister and insisted that I get a new Prius. That's how we got the 2009 touring package 6.
