My white Prius replaced a 1997, 22 mpg, white Dodge Caravan, which replaced a white 1987 Honda Accord Hatchback. Yes, I like white cars. The size/capacity of the van was necessary when we got it, but in recent years, it was usually just me driving an empty van to and from work each day - very inefficient. The only thing I miss about the Caravan is the road visibility due the height of the seats.
I expect to get a 2010 Prius or Insight to replace an '86 Accord Hatchback (30-37 mpg). It will also displace many miles from a Subaru wagon (27-32 mpg).
My 2009 Seaside Pearl replaced a Silver 2001 Chrysler Sebring LXi Convertible. I had an accident on 12/12/08 and the Sebring was totalled. I have been contemplating getting a high fuel mileage vehicle ever since gas went up. Originally, I was thinking Smart Car. But then I did my research and found the Prius beats it hands down on gas mileage and you get so much more car, with much better gas mileage. I had originally planned to make the swap around the fall of 2010, (that would have been the optimum time for me financially), but fate intervened.
My 09 Package 5 Seaside Pearl replaced an 05 Mazda 5 minivan that was loaded with every option available. Was a hard decision but I'm not sorry I made the change. Kinda wished I purchased the Prius before I purchased the Mazda 5.
My 2006 Prius replaced a 2006 Silverado 4WD pick-up. I will be starting a 100 mile commute (round trip) in a week and bought the Prius (used) for that. The pick-up has moved on to our son who is an electrician and needed a truck (still in the family to borrow for moving furniture ). I've wanted a Prius since the Gen II came out, but couldn't justify the price new. Picking up an '06 with 28k miles for $18k made this much more acceptable. I am very pleased with the decision. We have a 1500k mile trip planned next week - can't wait to see how it does for a long trip!
I am on a waiting list for the 2010 Prius. I will be trading in a 2006 Mini Cooper conv. It's a lot of fun but I need room for a couple of friends and a couple of golf bags. Can you say ROAD TRIP?????
I'm also on the waiting list for a 2010 Prius which, once it arrives, will replace my Land Rover LR3. I'm not saying the LR3 gets terrible mileage, but this week's MPG-average for my commute? 8.3 MPG I can't wait for my Prius!
1998 4Runner 4WD, driving 60 miles a day it just didn't make sense. 4Runner was a great car 215,000 miles later it served me well. I'm hoping the same for my Prius 2009 Pk 6
Got my 2006 Toyota Prius with 30K miles on it by trading it even up for my 2008 Infiniti G37S with 330HP and 8K miles on it. Made the trade with my wife. She say's I practically stole the Prius from her.
05 Prius replaced a 04 Solara Convertible. 08 Touring replaced the 05. 2010 Gen III Gold pkg will replace 08 Touring that is headed to UVA with our son.
The 2010 Prius will be replacing my 2005 Tacoma. I bought my first new car when I was in high school (1980 Celica) and have bought 6 new Toyotas since then. 1980 Celica, 1987 Truck, 1999 Truck, 1998 Tacoma Prerunner, 2001 Tacoma Prerunner, and my current 2005 Tacoma Prerunner. I'm a firm Toyota supporter. The 2010 Prius will be Toyota lucky number 7
1990 Toyota Tercel coupe. It was a great little car, but I wore it out. Then I used transit for 5 years before buying the Prius.
I replaced a 1998 BMW 328i bought used. It was so comfortable but a gas hog at 28 mpg avg considering I drive 500 miles a week minimum. I am mostly concerned about fuel consumption. As a bonus, I get less emissions and cool geeky tech type of stuff.
I bought the '09 Prius to replace my '94 Camry that has hit 202,000 miles. It still runs and is a good car for dirty jobs (gardening, dog-pooling), but I needed something with better gas mileage. LOVE the new car.
My 2006 Prius replaced a fairly economical 1997 Ford Escort Wagon. It got in the low 30 MPG range, and is now doing duty with my step-son in Spokane, with some 200K on the gauge.
Our Prius replaced my spouses 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 2 door. We also have a 2009 Toyota Matrix XRS and love its peppyness, but since buying the Prius we NEVER drive it! Its still got under 10k and it will stay like that until we get tired of driving the Prius everywhere (which i doubt will happen!) So thrilled to have our Prius and we both love it to death. The only thing be both miss in the Prius is the sunroof, living in Tx it rocks to have one so that will be our first big expense is having one installed.!#
i picked sports car, although i should have picked "performance sedan" but that category didnt exist... i had a highly modified taurus SHO (although it's a sedan, the mods and need for premium made gas mileage/price more like a sports car than a run of the mill taurus, thus my pick)
Eh the SHO, a sports car? What'd you do to mod it?? Those things did 0-60 in just over 8 seconds stock.
