2005 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback. Fantastic car, very fun to drive, incredibly reliable, and the Hyundai warranty and service kicked Toyota's nice person. A rat got into the wiring when it was parked outside costing about $1300 and there was a lot of cosmetic damage due to driving through an insect swarm in Florida where the carcasses ate right through the paint so it was going to require me to spend a chunk of change to remedy that. I'd always been interested in the Prius and was offered a great deal so it just kind of happened. It makes much more sense now that I'm commuting regularly and I'm beginning to love it just as much! I do miss the Elantra, it had a lot of character and served me well for just under 50,000 miles.

This was earlier in it's life:

A 1992 Honda Accord named "Wanda"...I currently miss the sunroof and I know I will miss the remote start this winter, but I can sacrifice my warmth for the environment! Bought the Honda (my first car) for 4,000.00 in 1998 with 98,000 miles on it. 9 years later and with 256,000 miles (and no MAJOR repairs at all) I still got 1000.00 trade for our 2005 Prius. I do, however, wish that we were able to buy a new 2007, but couldn't afford it along with my ridiculous student loan payments every month. Now I just wish we would have taken them up on the extended warranty, but lesson learned!

I replaced (as my daily driver, kept the car) a 1997 BMW 740iL. I now have two favorite cars!

    2000 Chevy Malibu

it's kinda not replaced though because my fiancee will drive it for another two years or so and then she's looking at the Altima Coupe

either way, let's just say i've basically doubled my gas mileage... i was getting about 25 combined with the chevy (saw 30 once on the highway with a tailwind, nowadays i'm pretty upset about 30mpg)

1957 Buick Super, it had the push button start under the gas pedel, but alas you can't buy gas for it and the additives you have to use gunk up the engine, so it's retired.

My is replacing a 2001 Infiniti QX4 with slightly over 91,000 miles on it. Matter of fact the check engine light (for the 90K service) came on as I was driving to the dealership to pick up my new Prius. Also, the fuel light came on just as I was turning in to the parking lot. I would say that was perfect timing.

I bought a 2006 Prius last March. I traded in relatively new 2005 Nissan Altima for the Pruis. The dealer gave me a good trade value and it got low gas mileage(usually less than 20

Sold the old Camry yesterday, new buyer was first to look and was very excited. I think he got a real bargain, so many new parts. Nothing broke ever on the car but some parts did wear out. It will take a very good car or deal to get me to buy a non-Toyota. Each time I pass a broken down car I think to myself, they must have run out of Toyotas because the broken car almost never is a Toyota even though Toyota is a top seller here.

Replaced a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. It was my primary car that was also the car that I always wanted. Sadly, I also recieved the $400+ month gasoline bill with it for my "regular commuting grind". Now the gas bill is paying for the prius.

My 2005 Prius replaced my beloved 2000 Ford F-150. I miss the 5.4L until I look at the gas credit card bill...

My Prius replaces a '96 Chrysler Sebring coupe that, at 244k, more or less, decided to jump timing and bend a bunch of valves again. That car left me with the feeling of having loved well. Second choice would have been a '05 GTO that had been modded, including a high performance cam that caused the car to shake at idle, but still managed nearly 17 to the gallon on a test drive. Third choice would have been a VW Passat, 6 speed, with the sport package.

So far, I enjoy the Prius...

Hubby was driving our 1997 Ford Explorer. We bought that when the boys got so big they couldn't all fit in the Ranger truck with us. Now the Explorer gets to sit around a bit suring the week and gets used on weekends when we go to the hardware/garden/whatever store. Hubby now drives the Prius to work and home- and I'm just SOOOO jealous! I love my infiniti, but there's something about that silent engine that I just love.

Replaced a '92 Chevy Silverado. Good riddance to bad gas mileage!

I do miss people giving me a little extra room on the road tho... I often feel pretty "crowded" in my newlittle car!

Sean Connery voice: " Ooh very sexy". Gorgeous car.

    Looking at the stats:

We don't seem to be a bunch of ex-SUV drivers. Guess the SUV drivers are still driving their SUVs aka Urban Assault Vehicles.

My Prius replaced a BMW 318i

Thank you Albertus. :) I almost bought a 325i back in '95. Very nice cars.

I may need some help from you in the future. There is this very beautiful girl from South Africa at my college and some "local" info would be great to help me pique her interest. Well something other than the stuff I learned watching Tsotsi or listening to kwaito. Hahaha!

My Prius is replacing a very reliable and trusty 1994 Honda Civic DX sedan named "Albert." Albert started life somewhere in Mississippi and then made his way to the bay area in 2000. My wife bought him at 74,000 miles off the original owner and he treated her well for her small about town trips.

Two years ago I started a job with a 45 mile commute each way to work. At that time I was seriously considering a hybrid, but I could not justify the expense when I had Albert, who was economical, ran well, and most importantly, was completely paid off. I drove Albert happily to work each day - and got a very respectable 33 mpg hwy with him. Albert did his duties faithfully and never let me down- only needed regular maintenance and oil changes. Now he now ready to move on at 143,000 miles. This car still has a lot of life in him.

My prius is my first Toyota, and I must admit I have high expectations for the brand. I have been a honda owner my whole life, and they have rarely let me down. So far so good with the Prius - it is a well designed and fun little car to drive. And I love LOVE getting the great mileage.
