It's 2016 model year, time to abandon the shape & look of cars that has been shared since the 90's. After all, these new models will be on the road in the 20's.

Think of how quaint it is to not have the screen on the dashboard and a fob in your pocket. Some of us have moved on years ago. Many more may be waiting for the opportunity.

In other words, the thought of "modern" is changing.

Nailed it! :D, I think resemblance here is limited to the 15" tires.

John I could live without touch screen controls. Especially for critical h/v controls I need to access on windy roads at night in the rain.

same here, need more large knobs and buttons! i hate having to punch the radio buttons over and over to get the station or am/fm. same with gps, my partners acura had a much better knob and button system.

    I agree.

Any change or adjustment you will need or want to make while driving should be readily doable without looking at the control, looking at the display or contorting the body. Once familiar with the car, you should generally be able to tell from tactile clues such as shape, position and available adjustment options what the control is, what its current status is, what you need to do to get he result you want and when you have succeeded in doing so.

A good example is an old style stick shift.

A bad example is the Gen 3 Driving Mode control where smooth continuous buttons are aligned in a row on the far side of the gear stick.

right, sometimes 'modern high tech' isn't an 'improvement'.

Right, Just because something can be done doesn't mean it should (Mirai, touchscreen climate controls, etc.) practically speaking. See what I did there. ;)

I am likely this version. It is clearly updated yet keeps the iconic shape. I don't think people realize how optimized this shape is to achieve the highway mpg, passenger space, and dimensions. The only styling I would have done differently is down size the headlights.

Hate it. The rear tail lights remind me of Kevin Durant's Nike V8 shoes, just upside down.

I very much doubt the new Prius will beat my 9-year-old car's 52+ mpg.

TOYOTA CARES? Do they? After that AWFUL unveiling of the 2016 Toyota Prius, I can tell how much they DON’T care!! What the HELL was that?? THEY should be ashamed. That clown with a WATER BOTTLE in his hand and the designers looked like four clowns in a circus tent! No ties on, they looked like SLOBS! No inside pictures of the car? MORONS!! No specs, NOTHING!! That was total BS and a BIG waste of MY time!! My wife and I have been waiting for this for over two years and get this BS?? The Chevrolet Volt is looking better and better to me!! BELIEVE ME! You have GOT TO BE kidding!!n I would fire the whole FREAKIN lot of you! YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED AND ASHAMED!! “TOYOTA CARES”? After seeing that, you could care less, and I feel the same way. BS!!

I feel your pain, lol. That show was an embarrassment, hands down.

Marshall McLuhan said "the medium is the message". Doesn't bode good.

If Toyota cared about what you think they would not have plastered the atrocious spindle face on all their products, from corolla, camry to the LX, RX.
