What am I doing wrong? Or maybe - just can't please some cars.

I only glimpse at the ECO score occasionally when it grabs my attention, except when I'm setting the heat and A/C.
I rarely use either heat or A/C, but when I do if all 5 yellow squares are not lit up, I change the settings until they all are.

The other measurements are still beyond my understanding. I once got a 99 ECO score for a 1 mile leg of a trip between 2 stop signs.

The attitude is just telling us that the sensors can be programmed much more precisely than us regular human perceptions can detect.

Someday, someone may actually give a hypothesis about how the ECO score is programmed, but I still think not many would bother to try to verify the hypothesis and / or get wildly different ideas about how the thing actually works. ymmv and usually does.

Thanks for the insight on this, since ive had the car for a couple of weeks now. It is fun to drive,the closest I got to a perfect score was a 97, it was a 7 mile trip. Another one I got a 95 on a 16 mile trip.

I must say driving this car is like a video gane, it is very fun

Hello again everyone I have been being frugal on gas lately & seeing what numbers I can get. This past week I haven't been doing a lot of highway driving, just a lot of in town.
I checked my numbers & I put 1.50 Gallons 6 days ago & hAve driven 105 miles in 6 days.

That is crazy that I drove 105 miles on 1.50 gallons. This car is really great on gas

Post number 3, my friend. A light foot may work for traditional cars, but not a hybrid with an Atkinson Cycle engine in it. It has a very specific rev range where it's super economical (right up next to where the PWR section starts). The hybrid synergy drive computers attempt to keep it within that rev range by augmenting it's power with the electric motor, or using up the excess power to charge the battery. That's where the magic is.

I did NOT know this! I get about 54mpg calculated and scores in the 60s most times, but I tend to try to stay in EV mode- sound like too much. I'll try your techniques and see what happens!

It should do even better when warmer drier weather arrives. My Gen3 can do slightly better than that under the very best conditions, but can't come close under late October weather.

What am I doing wrong? Or maybe - just can't please some cars.
