Step up from Nismo 370Z. More than half the vehicle price, 70% off insurance, 75% higher mpg, and I don't know how much more interior room plus comfort. I never had a car that was fun to drive fast and slow. With suspension + wheel upgrades, the Prius is fun enough to drive fast, while even more fun to compete with the wife on MPG. (She doesn't know I take a hit on 17" wheels and non-LRR tires shhhh...) She thinks it is still a very close competition @ high 40s and low 50 range:D

I traded my 2011 Corolla S for my Prius. Most decidedly a step up in comfort, space, MPG, gadgets, and overall practicality.

Also, it's more fun to drive than any car since my '72 Skylark.

The only things I don't care for are the increased insurance premiums and car payments. But hey, if I have the means, I'll do what I can to help the environment. I almost enjoy the looks I get from my neighbors and passers-by when they see me pushing my rotary mower with my Prius parked in the driveway. :D

Not sure how I should answer this. I had an '07 Lexus ES350, which was an extremely comfortable and nice ride. But it was getting up there in miles, and without a warranty I was concerned about long term potential expenses with me driving 2,000 miles a month.

I now have a 2012 Prius level IV, which gets awesome gas mileage, and while nicely appointed isn't quite Lexus level (nor did I expect it to be). But the Prius is worth a whole lot more than the Lexus was.

Would you say the improved MPGs make up for the luxury you lost? Do you miss that Luxury?
You bought the level 4, so it is pretty well decked out, how does it compare to more of a luxury vehicle?

    For me, a step up--from a 99 Corolla.

My previous car was a 2006 BMW. Car was great the first 2 years. After that the maintenance and repair costs were harsh. Car took premium gas also. Prius is much better on many different levels.

I voted neither, the car I traded for my prius, was a Nissan 2005 350z grand touring roadster in excellent condition with low miles..the prius can't compare with the handling and speed of the Z. But I bought the prius for fuel economy, and the wife and I both get use out of the prius.. My wife didn't drive the Z ..I do not regret my decision. We're both very happy with the prius

Step up from a POS 2000 Hyundai Elantra that needed to visit the junkyard in the sky.

MPGs from 52.7 to 69.3 this month so things are looking up. My boyfriend loves watching my pulse and glide results - and he is knowledgeable on what makes the Prius tick - he is a big fan of the Gen Is....

Step up from my Civic EX 2002. Better mileage and more space for hauling things.

my previous car before my first Prius was a Fleet White Ford F-150 pickup that was destined to be a fleet vehicle (cant get fleet white in a regular car) so it was with ZERO amenities. It was manual tranny, dual tanks, and had AM radio (no FM!)

so guessing you know my vote

One of the other big step ups for me was the hatchback. As an AV field repair technician, the Prius makes loading my tools and step ladder a breeze. I hadn’t driven a hatchback in years, until the Prius; I forgot how much I liked them. :)

Step up for me. Last car was an '07 Corolla S. Loved that little car. Unfortunately it was recently totaled when a distracted teenager crossed into oncoming traffic and hit me head on. Insurance check was a rather substantial down payment on 2013 Prius Two. I'm happy with the base model. Was originally going to get a Prius V Three but really enjoyed the ride on the regular Prius better... plus the dealer had the exact color combo I wanted and gave me a great deal.

Things my 2005 Prius had that no other car I've ever had before had.

1 SKS (remote keyless entry, and start button), it's hard to believe how convenient this is until you get used to it and then drive a car that uses an old fashioned key.

2 Auto dimming Homelink Mirror (no more stupid battery changes or clunky remote on the visor) also nice that it auto dims so I don't have to flip the tab under the mirror if someone is high beaming me from behind.

3 digital thermostat for heat/AC (no guessing how far to slide the heat slider knob, can set an accurate temp easily)

    and in no particular order

    MPG display
    outside temp display
rear window wiper (not that big a deal but no other car I used to have had one)

and that isn't listing all the features it has that I have seen in my other past cars. All in all a better car than any I had before.

Definite step up for me. I had a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid. The hybrid system is a step up from the Honda (my hybrid batteries were already acting "differently" in the Honda, leading me to believe they were getting ready to go out). The Prius is MUCH more comfortable than the Honda. The seats are much better (the Honda's were like sitting on a concrete block), it's roomier and gets better mileage. The technology is better--I have Bluetooth, the USB port, satellite radio (granted, I'll probably let it expire, though) and the back-up camera. The only thing I'm not sold on yet is the navigation system. I hate that we can't be driving and the passenger input an address, and wish there was an override for that.

Step up from a 2007 Yaris sedan. More room, I like the hatch better, better MPG. Now my wife drives the Yaris, but she stepped up to that from a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was falling apart o_O

You use the Smart Phone entune application , than use Bing to search your desired location, save it as a destination, than sync the locations with your car, than hit the go to button on saved locations and it launches the address in the Car's Navigation. Than hit the go naviagation button. It is complicated, if you have a passanger let them do it or you may get in an accident.

I try and do the smart phone entune process before I get in the car. Than while I'm driving I can go into the car's touchscreen, go to saved destinations, and hit go and I can create a nav destination while I'm driving.

I went from a toyota 4runner. So I would say it was comparable but just different.
