makes perfect sense - in the oily industry. anti competition. Don't like Electric cars, as they use no oil filters or oil or gas etc. So ... you can at least fleece 'em by high priced hot dogs, coffee & a few kWh's. Then the utility proposes building chargers. So - you concoct a story about how the builds will be saddled on the backs of old people. Our utility did the same thing to old peeps regarding PV subsidies.

google such words as ..... SCE asks PUC raise rates solar users.
And go to your public utility commission meetings - where you can hear such crap spew from the utility;
"poor poor grama ... she'll have to freeze this winter because the stinking 'rich' PV user .... we have to give their power to them for free ... & so that we don't go broke .... we'll have to raise poor poor grama's rates". LOL. Meanwhile - the leadership of the utilities live high on the hog - not to mention their massive expense accounts.
Time to get to their meetings & wake up & smell the coffee.

You forgot their poor poor employees that they 2x the normal working salaries in the areas they operate.

And the poor poor employees that are pampered with many amenities that the private sector doesn’t have.

 

Oddly enough, I have been to those meetings and never heard any of that.

 

SCE top tier is 41¢/kWh here in SoCal - time of use. Nebraska? Not so much. And how did we get those rates? Voters were willing to let it slide on by - why? the utility pitched a great story. They lie with which the ease that you and I breathe.
But it gets better. If during that Peak rate? If i were putting our solar Surplus back on the grid? they don't give us that rate. This is why people are getting battery backup systems. Detach from this bunch of leeches.
